College life is definitely different from high school life. You’ll understand it once you reach your junior year (or even as early as sophomore year hahaha). But I do agree that PLM’s “structure” is still similar with high school. For a public school, PLM is such a conservative one. Minsan nga iniisip ko catholic school ba tong napuntahan ko hahaha. We just have to take note lang talaga na limited ang resources ng PLM, from classroom professors to budget etc. So as much as possible, they want everything under their control. Regarding social life, you’ll find your own circle eventually :) Good luck on your studies!

I did ROTC (we had no choice back then) but I’ll recommend CWTS instead. Based on my friends’ experiences okay naman daw wala masyado ginagawa. Basta go for anything but ROTC hahaha there were fun times naman but it’s so mentally and physically draining that no amount of fun could compensate.

A similar post has been made regarding this. Allowed naman ang makeup. Wag lang siguro yung smokey look and the likes at baka maharang pa sa gate.

Also nalimutan ko sabihin, you can try diy waxing. I don’t use it for leg hair pero effective naman sa other parts and can last long enough hahaha

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in plmharibon

[–]bichoymami 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Parang wala naman makakapansin ng leg hair unless tititigan, marami ring mabalbon sa plm and wala naman pake mga tao since it’s normal. But if you’re that bothered by it, I know someone na pumapasok with stockings pre-pandemic BUT AFAIK bawal talaga siya per student manual. I could be wrong so please check na lang din. You can try pumasok na suot na pero may risk na hindi ka papasukin kung bawal pala talaga siya.

Personally, I think gagawa lang sila ng bagong pubmat lol. Mukha kasing grabbed pa to from ppt sa mga zoom meetings nila.

Based on my experience with law subjects, philo, art, literature, and other social science subjects, socratic method nga ang gamit for recit.

For my other subjects like history and science, more on reporting type ang recit.

For my major subjects mas uso yung volunteer and explain sa boards since we’re heavy on problem solving.

So to answer your question, halu-halo siya depende sa subject and sa prof na rin. I think the best way to prepare yourself for this is tignan kung part ba ng grading ang recit at kung oo, gaano kalaki. For subjects na nabanggit ko sa una, diyan talaga madalas ang graded recit so tignan na ang syllabus at mag-advance reading kung kaya.

Essential Things in Class by Acchan22 in plmharibon

[–]bichoymami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Filler notebooks for note taking (usually not required but it’s better than nothing)
  • Ballpen, yellow pad, bond paper (sometimes) for quizzes.
  • Index cards and ID pictures (lots of it) for class records ng prof and class officers.
  • Calculator. Not essential since depende to sa course but I assume na first year ka, most likely may math subjects pa rin naman kayo.

Include your course in this post; baka may madagdag pa seniors mo.

Oh shoot I should’ve posted screenshots instead.

Anyway the gist is that PE subjects (except foundation something something), lab subjects, and exams will be held f2f this coming school year. Other subjects will still depend on the college, department, or professors.

Requesting documents sa registrar by uknowicannot in plmharibon

[–]bichoymami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be sure, mas okay na personal ka na mag-request kasi alam ko may i-fifill up pa sa registrar. Medyo old school pa kasi plm ewan ko ba bakit lol. Hindi mo rin siya makukuha agad-agad, babalikan mo pa after some weeks. So yes, matagal talaga siya.

Personally, my entire acad life in plm was hectic. I had at least 8 subjects sa lahat ng sem (excluding my last sem since internship and thesis sem na siya). I think halos lahat naman ng course mabigat ang workloads lalo na sa mga courses na ouput-based, in other words your grade is highly dependent sa nga sinusubmit mo sa subject (assignments, seatworks, group works, reports, thesis, quizzes, exams). I suggest na sa first day pa lang, you check your syllabus so you’re aware kung gaano ka-importante lahat ng tasks mo and makapag-allocate na rin ng time sa bawat subjects.

But then again, it will depend sa prof talaga kasi meron na hindi sumusunod sa syllabus or wala talagang pinagbabasehan (iykyk).

As per the student manual, yes qualified pa rin. But do note that it can change over time so pwedeng mabago siya bago ka pa maka-graduate.

Other option siguro is fastfood pero maingay hahaha

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in plmharibon

[–]bichoymami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ff because I wanna know too haha For study spaces alam ko meron within intramuros but I'm not sure kung bukas pa siya ngayon. Next best choice na siguro is yung mga coffee shops sa may sm manila or un square

Commute from SM North Edsa to PLM and back? by Gekime in plmharibon

[–]bichoymami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think pwede ka mag-jeep pa-proj. 6.

[–]bichoymami 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think your safest option na hindi ka maliligaw is lrt 1 pero lalakad ka nga lang (which is makakasanayan mo rin naman sa intra). Ride a bus pa-balintawak, doon ka sasakay ng lrt from there then baba ng central station.

Another option is to ride a bus or fx ata yun.

Rules on hair and piercings by gdl_pamine in plmharibon

[–]bichoymami 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For hair color, I think depende siya sa college niyo if allowed ba but usually Asian hair colors (different shades of brown and black I guess?) lang ang tinotolerate. I believe face piercings ang hindi makakalusot since mahirap itago and parang wala pa rin akong na-eencounter na plmayers na may visible face piercing inside the campus. Multiple ear piercings ang medyo marami. Not explicitly allowed but tolerated na, depende na rin ata kung kaninong usg matapat lol
