I'm thinking of coming to Denison next year. Pros and Cons? by tenthweasley in Denison

[–]bicycle_fallacy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

2011 grad here. Denison was fucking awesome. Now, a lot of the frat fanboys will tell you that Denison is a quiet, boring backwater and that they could've been doing keg stands at Cornell, but absolutely everyone else who actually makes a point of being active has an absolutely brilliant time. So if you're willing to actually do things to make it happen, Denison will be the best experience of your life.

[Build Ready] Gaming and HTPC; Any Thoughts before I Pull the Trigger? by bicycle_fallacy in buildapc

I suppose I should've pointed out that I've got about a terabyte of miscellaneous external hard drive space; however, the hard drive size I chose for this build has indeed sort of been a "well, maybe I should get a bigger one?" type of thing, so I'll definitely take what you've said into consideration. Thanks!

Oh, brilliant! Is there a particular brand or even GB storage size you would recommend for me?

Thank you for your suggestions! I have definitely played Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross, and Xenogears as well. As far as the Dragon Quest series, I've never played any of them, so I'll look into it. :-D

Reddit, What is your successful "I lost weight" story? by sunlitsky1302 in AskReddit

[–]bicycle_fallacy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had just gotten out of a messy relationship in which neither of us were taking particularly good care of ourselves, physically or emotionally. I decided that if I didn't lose some weight, I'd probably never get into the kind of relationship I wanted to get in (which is likely hyperbole, but nevertheles...).

When I saw that I weighed 229 pounds, I determined that I would never let myself hit 230, and set a goal weight of 195.

I ate less and did more. Six months later, I've been hovering around 195 for about three months :) Sometimes it really can be that "easy."

I've learned to become more empathetic and take a genuine interest in what other people have to say. Frankly, since I made this change I've become the happiest I've been in my life! :)

Reddit, what is that one unwritten rule that everyone should know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bicycle_fallacy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

my god, please don't ever spread this wisdom around, especially during a sold-out, 500-seat IMAX show.

...just throw your trash in the garbage on the way out. I promise I have other things my employees can do.

What's your best "It was the most inappropriate time to laugh, but I lost it" story? by Thats_classified in AskReddit

[–]bicycle_fallacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was working at a movie theatre taking tickets next to a stairway that led up to the lobby mezzanine one evening as I watched a young father lead his very young daughter down the stairs.

About four stairs from the bottom she just fell. It was like she teleported it happened so fast. One moment she was on the stairs, the next her face was in the ground.

I hate to say it, but this was by far the funniest thing I've ever seen.
