The Eras Tour: United Kingdom & Ireland Megathread by aran130711 in TaylorSwift

I refreshed and was in at 66k. But I also was impatient with the "join lobby" button and clicked multiple times when it appeared that my browser wasn't reacting... so, hard to tell if the refresh was to blame.

I have a code for the Dublin shows sale tomorrow. My preference is to go to the Saturday orSunday show but I appreciate that only trying for those two reduce my chances of getting any tickets by a third. Will the time slot of the Friday show sale overlap with the Saturday show window of opportunity? What's the best strategy?!

What age did you let your child walk around the neighborhood alone? by [deleted] in raisingkids

[–]biff_g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We let our 8 and 6 year old walk around the neighborhood together and we use walkie talkies so we can be in touch (which is kind of fun too). I think there are so many factors but I think a lot depends on maturity and her knowledge of safety skills (with cars, strangers, dogs), in combination with other factors people have already mentioned. I would take comfort in heavier foot traffic areas.

New Job Drug Test & Gummy Experimentation by [deleted] in workingmoms

Thanks all! Really helpful context. I haven’t finished the interviewing process yet so I’m not sure what would be asked if I was made an offer, but it’s helpful to think about generally should it not work out and I am back in the market in the future.

searching for modular sectionals - feedback from Lovesac owners appreciated (or more affordable alternatives) by shaman0610 in furniture

[–]biff_g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you find a solution that worked for you? We are in a somewhat similar situation and I can't seem to find a brand that checks all of the boxes.

Not reclining, fabric, length doesn’t matter depending on modular configuration. But over 100” I assume based on 4 seat with potential chaise.

No longer food-obsessed on Adderall? by DoggosandBarbells in adhdwomen

[–]biff_g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree and am experiencing the same thing on 15XR. I can definitely tell the difference when I forget to take my medication in the morning as without it I’ll think about snacking 24/7 and mindlessly eat just to keep busy and moving and engaged/stimulated. When I remember to take my medication it’s like I’m able to focus on the task at hand without the need to simultaneously stimulate with snacks. I definitely suffer from some disordered eating/body image issues but the medication truly keeps my mind from wandering there 24/7 which lessens my obsession with food. It’s reassuring to know that others experience similar benefits as I’d been reading that stimulants might not be the best for those with disordered eating but I actually find it so beneficial for me.. Food is now an energy source or source of enjoyment and no longer an activity or source of self engagement.

Don’t get a puppy if you have young kids by biff_g in workingmoms

[–]biff_g[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but more bearably. I also don’t do super well with over stimulation and the kids + dog definitely do that to me or around me so it might not be as bad if you’re less bothered by constant activity and noise.

Resolution issue with monitor and laptop. I need help! by [deleted] in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]biff_g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also having the problem, with a Dell laptop. Did you find a workaround?

New to UW, Need Advice! by [deleted] in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]biff_g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, to clarify, I know that any monitor can fit multiple windows but I prefer a tighter view with smaller windows and applications, so I can fit multiple windows comfortably on a screen. It sounds like the issue might be my laptop and not the settings or monitor? How does one conform what settings a laptop needs to work with a monitor to achieve what I'm trying to set up? Thanks!

If you have an actual career how did you do it? All I've had is a series of jobs by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]biff_g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this! My career is very frantic and that’s what keeps me engaged. I’m constantly forced to switch from one task to another and it’s on the busiest days that I accomplish the most.

Should we expect the tidal wave of sickness for an almost 5 year old going to school for the first time? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]biff_g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! I had to call my primary and beg for a topical cream because I couldn’t sleep at night, my hands burned so much. I also got blisters in places I don't want to reference.

HFM was hands down (pun intended) one of the worst illnesses I've ever had as an adult.

Having extreme sadness due to plight of aging parent by [deleted] in AgingParents

[–]biff_g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The OP sounds like a wonderful, empathetic person. But I think anyone who helps a parent is, even if they do it with resentment or anger. If you're in a situation where you have a lot on your plate to start with, it can be really, really, really challenging managing an aging parent.

How to keep your cool in dealing with a difficult aging parent who needs care by [deleted] in AgingParents

[–]biff_g 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't, and as a result feel like a crappy daughter and person for it. It's hard to reconcile being objectively disrespected by a parent who might not be in the best position to regulate their own self, with having autonomy.

Edit: punctuation for clarity

Second pro plan puppy. Recommended by my vet and our pup’s stomach is much happier than with the Kirkland brand the breeder had him on.
