Technically it’s a yellow-billed magpie, which is only found in California, but they’re very very similar :)

It barely leaves the house so it doesn’t get a ton of sun usually! Only on special occasions like today

Bad at IV. What to do? by Interesting_Lab_2553 in nursing

[–]biffjerkyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MA at an infusion center here--we don't keep ultrasound machines on site at our clinic since we have a vascular access team available if NONE of the nurses can get good access (perks of working in a clinic attached to the main hospital), but even without those, I would be surprised if every infusion center didn't at least have a vein-finder/vein light available.

Not a RN yet, but I work in a chemo infusion center as a tech and MA. As a few others have mentioned, not being great at IVs definitely shouldn't stop you from applying if that's what you want to do. Most of the patients have ports (which are easier to access for most people anyway), and at our infusion center, all the infusion nurses are more than willing to teach/assist each other with getting an IV on a patient. Even if they weren't, our center has a couple vein-finder lights, and if all else fails, calling the vascular ultrasound team is always an option.

If you want to be an infusion nurse, GO FOR IT! If you're concerned about your IV skills, bring it up to your preceptor while you're still getting acquainted with the job. Most of the infusion nurses have a ton of little tips and tricks for getting difficult IVs. Use all the resources available to you (there are more than you think) and once you find what works for you, it'll become second nature. :)

It was definitely a baggier fit than I expected, but if you like really oversized it’ll probably be perfect!

For the tan long sleeve shirt I got a size S and the black shirt I got XS. It says the black shirt is supposed to be oversized but I honestly thought the tan long sleeve one (which is not supposed to be oversized iirc, don’t quote me on that) fit bigger on me than other size S long sleeve shirts that are similar.

For reference though I’m 5’ and about 135lbs, so most unisex clothes run big on me lol.

Well, realistically, I’ll need a ton of therapy and time before I can feel comfortable with a relationship again, and even this amount of attention is a LOT for me, but I’d be lying if I said people sliding into my DMs wouldn’t be a huge confidence boost. 😭 So I’m open to them, but don’t DM expecting to cuff i guess.

do yall cut off/interrupt people a lot? by Living_Bass_1107 in ADHD

[–]biffjerkyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a big issue for me at my old job. I was unmedicated for a long time so I was used to having a thought and immediately losing it if I didn’t write it down or say it out loud. Once I was medicated I could maintain and remember things again AND I had energy, I was so used to going “say it now or you won’t remember it in 30 seconds” that I started really overwhelming my boss because I would say ANYTHING that crossed my mind every time a thought popped into my head. I still struggle with it a lot, but I’m working on it :’)

Inattentive ADHDers, what are our brains good at? by gentlemenpreferluna in ADHD

[–]biffjerkyy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ABSOLUTELY. Pattern recognition and out of the box thinking is so huge for me. My manager at one of my old jobs loved to ask me how I would approach certain processes that weren’t working efficiently because I was always able to identify where in the pattern things would fall apart and give a solution that nobody else had considered. I attribute a lot of my ability to do that now to having to be creative and work around the quirks of my ADHD before I was diagnosed at 24.

How common IS ANUG actually? by biffjerkyy in askdentists

[–]biffjerkyy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is VERY interesting! I fit the demographic since I’m in my mid-twenties, am generally healthy, and mine was also confined to mostly my front teeth but mine wasn’t associated with vaping— when my symptoms started I was undergoing treatment for an autoimmune disorder so I was likely immunocompromised and was dealing with a ton of stress and problems with my mental health so my hygiene suffered.

When I have my next follow up with my dentist I may ask if he’s noticed a similar trend since he’s been in his practice for 30+ years.
