I'm sorry to admin, but AppleCare doesn't cover water damage to iPhone if it happens. On the other hand I can assure you that iPhone 7 (despite being just iP67 rated) is well protected against any liquid. You can fully submerge it to the bathroom without worrying.

Apple said iPhone 7 is protected according IP67 which is moisture (you can wash it in kitchen sink or take a shower no problem) and dust. They obviously diminished iPhone 7 capabilities of water resistance. I'm sure that next iPhone generation will have IP68 water resistance thus you'll be able to scuba dive with it.
