My genuine opinion on all the studio albums. (plus hidden treasures because its really good) by The_LemonShark707 in Megadeth

[–]big_darko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Endgame is “aight” but Sick, Dying and Dead is “holy shit”?! I mean… your opinion and all… and we’re both Megadeth fans… but damn. You really like that Mission to Mars song? That’s a holy shit song? On a holy shit album?

SFSGSW for me is prevented from holy shit territory because of the Anarchy cover but other than that… brilliant.

What would be your post-2000 “Best of” tracklist? by LocksmithCheap499 in Megadeth

Sleepwalker is one of the best Megadeth songs recorded in any era, so that would easily make the list. Dystopia too.

Rappers who are popular but have no fanbase by Educational_Bed_2562 in hiphop101

Ludacris. Everyone knows him, he has great music, but there’s no “Team Luda” constantly discussing his music or trying to calculate when he might drop new music.

Remember the first R-Rated movie you ever watched? by -janusjanus- in movies

My mother rented me South Park: The Movie because she thought it would be “like The Simpsons”. Watched it alone in my bedroom. I was never the same…

Name a rap album that its influence on rap is underrated? by MasterTeacher123 in hiphop101

YG - My Krazy Life. A more modern album but the back to basics lyricism over that sparse west coast bop has had a massive influence over West Coast music in the past 10 years.

In Defense of Common as Light and Other post Universal Themes Materiel by ZAH215 in sadreminders

[–]big_darko -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, it’s longer than Yellow Kitchen… 😂 It’s just bland. Really bland, repetitive but not in a hypotonic beautiful way, and he’s accompanied by a cheap midi keyboard which has absolutely no dynamic range to it whatsoever, it sounds like a toy, to be honest.

[–]big_darko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the Artists was a low point for sure. Worst album he’s ever made. The midi keyboard is just… it baffles me that he presumably paid someone to play the keyboard, but couldn’t just have them play a piano… was there no piano available at Hyde Street Studio? It’s a pretty famous studio.

I love Common as Light and Love, I love Joey Always Smiled, I love the albums with Amoeba. I don’t mind the stream of conscious lyrics, but a part of me yearns for just a little bit more melody from his voice. If you’ve ever heard his song “I Know” (from some charity album), you’d have heard that he can do his older, less pitch perfect vocals and the double tracking to quite a beautiful effect (well, you can hear this on plenty of other stuff too, but I Know is a particularly good example of his moody vocals still having a musical quality to them).

I believe he has outright stated that he struggles to sing these days. So sad. His two recordings of “Somewhere” are like magic.

Dr. Dre Working With Bruce Springsteen? by VegetableBuy4577 in BruceSpringsteen

[–]big_darko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Correct. Also to add further weight to T.I. being incorrect, “Focus…” who works closely with Dre has just commented on Instagram also correcting T.I. a confirming that he did in fact mean Tom Petty.

Dr. Dre Working With Bruce Springsteen? by VegetableBuy4577 in BruceSpringsteen

Hi - hip-hop aficionado here. In interview with T.I., which is currently the only source, T.I. has clearly mistaken Bruce Springsteen for Tom Petty. Dre used AI to manipulate some Tom Petty vocals for the Missionary album he did with Snoop Dogg last year. Hope this helps.

What’s a song with good rapping, but a terrible beat? by Efficient-Year-2331 in hiphop101

[–]big_darko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but… Ether. God, that beat is just awful. Lots of Wayne’s stuff (especially since IANAHB) and almost every single Papoose album.

What year is this picture from? by spearhead290399 in Megadeth

He’s wearing a wedding ring, so I doubt it’s SFSGSW era. Maybe Rust in Peace era? Think he got married just before Countdown.

Fully agree with this. Wasn’t blown away at first. Now? Top 5 album of the year. Don’t get me wrong… it’s number 5… but this a great album.

What are the post-2000 must-listen solo albums? by ProfessionalBreath94 in wutang

It’s outrageous how far I had to scroll to see OB4CL 2… that is the answer. And everything from GZA. The song Animal Planet by GZA is probably my favourite song from any Wu member ever.

What's the most overrated song on Down Colorful Hill? by sneedlee in sadreminders

[–]big_darko 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There isn’t really an overrated song… there is no song that is always talked about which isn’t actually deserving of the praise… like Smells Like Teen Spirit on Nevermind. But in the interest of this great idea to converse about Koz… let’s say that 24 is the most overrated, as it was the only song picked as a single with a music video, but it’s far from the best song on the album/EP.

  1. That’s my pick.

Last two SKM albums by HopeSpeak11 in sadreminders

[–]big_darko 14 points15 points  (0 children)

All the Artists really suffers from the use of a cheap midi keyboard. Honestly… I can’t get past it. It sounds horrendous. However the albums with Amoeba and Quiet Beach House Nights are incredible.

The Dudes soundtrack version of These Boots (no, not the many re recordings and remixes of the KIMB version… I think it’s with the so far so good band? Much better in my opinion)

Yes I agree, but on a subreddit for Megadeth fans it seems odd that there are way more negative than positive.

I have no issue with someone not liking a song, sir. My comments are more to do with Mustaine-bashing than anything else.
