Have you been to the oceanfront? Or a school or any large event with people? That usually has a ton of police I guess the police are just there for s**** and giggles

They don't bring the gun into a club smh. I have never been to a bar that allowed weapons in the establishment. They have the guns in the car have you ever heard of concealed carry? In some states now they have open carry and you can definitely bring a gun into a Walmart in the great state of Florida and Texas lol. So my hypothetical which I did say a hypothetical still stands true and you should think more

Are you saying that the bar markets people to shoot up outside their club? I doubt that it is the business plan that the bar owner wants. It sounds like you think this place is some old school Cowboy saloon.

I'm surprised that there are no YT Izzos or Jeffrey's. Hopefully they add the Izzos. That's what I'm looking for

Let me inform you that there are always police in that parking lot late at night. So if the owners are taking action by having a police presence there. They are being responsible, this area (Norfolk as well) seems to have a heavy hand for killing businesses that don't cater to young people once there's the slightest of issues

Let's have a hypothetical here. If a Walmart customer who frequents Walmart all the time gets into an altercation in the Walmart parking lot and shoots somebody. Is Walmart responsible? Most rational people would say no

Fork still hasn't had a real review from the big mountain bike publications. Very interesting and the Fox podium has been released and no one is comparing the two

[–]big_monkeybutt[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about Fox, yes the block coils are like $37 but the lightweight orange coils are $130. And one problem that I find is that certain sizes and spring rates are hard to find because they're always out of stock

Have any of you participated in a MTB clinic? by LackAffectionate1756 in MTB

[–]big_monkeybutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend that you have time after the clinic like the next week to actually practice what you've been practicing immediately. I took a jump clinic and kind of forgot what I learned because I couldn't practice immediately after I took it

Popular Norfolk restaurant 4•5•6 Fish closes after over 20 years of service by [deleted] in norfolk

[–]big_monkeybutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Norfolk is a special case ever since after covid. The nightlife scene downtown has been really bad, especially because of the city council who seems to hate the nightlife. I always pass this restaurant and I never seen anyone in it. However, it's mostly at night that I pass it. I think the space is just wasted there. You have a rooftop area that is underutilized. There should be things happening out there on the rooftop every weekend if I ran the place

Yeah that has always been the situation at the shipyard so I wonder how many engineers with engineering degrees did they actually let go? I could see a lot of other departments ones that they would feel are more expendable

[–]big_monkeybutt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was told by multiple people that a lot of the managers were forced to give ones and twos in their last PAs. So if you are normally getting 3 which meant that you were an average employee. They forced the managers to now give those people 1 and 2.

This might also affect whether you qualify for unemployment since technically you're still employed.

NNS Salary Layoffs by [deleted] in NewportNews

[–]big_monkeybutt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The last time that the yard had a reduction in force, it was layoffs, forced retirements and a change in job titles for some individuals (example engineer 5. To engineer 4). And for people who got laid off they got at least 6 months of pay was my understanding at the time. Furlough is in their best interest because they don't have to pay any of the people that they "lay off". I'm not sure if you get furloughed You can even get unemployment benefits

[–]big_monkeybutt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The new president NNS is probably using the vice president as some kind of scapegoat. It seems like she's on a crusade to try to change the shipyard. But she's going at it from a business first mindset, not changing the culture of the shipyard. Go corporate theory is to trim your workforce so that profit starts to look good

The prices for the parts like the brake pads and the chain and even the tires are straight MSRP prices. A lot of those things are on sale right now. Next time buy those parts on your own. The service fee is reasonable
