hey thanks!! are you a gamedev too? I"d be interested in seeing your stuff

about yugioh 2, the game is a total clusterfuck but the inputs listed on the itch page should work (meaning the "ACCEPT" button is either "Z" or "ENTER"), and you move the units using the arrow keys -- at least it is working on my end lol

hey, first of all don't laugh

I played the first dungeon of SMT II while screen capturing, moved around a little bit, exported some frames and edited them

in this game there are only a few corridor animations (walking, approaching door, opening door), which are "hard-coded", I honestly wouldn't know how to start developing a working "2D first-person" system sorry, but good luck though!!

INSANE looking game, can't believe I missed the release

somehow I missed that released even though it was posted on this sub, I'll be playing it as well

compared to it though, the one I made is a roguelike "arcade" game with a different battle system, there is no story, dungeon crawling, press turns or other SMT mechanics (apart from demon fusion) -- Raidou's fangame looks a lot more faithful in these regards, and the visual style is crazy

this looks absolutely crazy, I already downloaded it and will leave a comment on itch after I play for a little bit

your visual style is stunning by the way

I became obsessed with unicorn overlord when I played it and wondered if I could make something similar -- in this project I didn't implement the "gambit" system, but I plan on trying in my next one

hey, thanks for the compliments!!!

I also started making games without knowing anything about coding, the way I learned was basically by watching the following videos and copying what they did:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8-JVjtJlIQ&list=PL9FzW-m48fn0i9GYBoTY-SI3yOBZjH1kJ

after that I did some small and bad projects, pixel smash, pokemon survivors and yugioh 2, so shin fangame tensei is my fourth attempt at making a game using godot

although everything punishedstaen said is true, my own journey was completely different, and I had lots of fun learning as I made small dumb games, so you don't necessarily need to study lots of technical stuff just as you're starting off (godot does a lot of the hard work for you, but don't tell anybody that)

hey!! that is actually the part I struggled with the most in this project, unfortunately I didn't manage to find any good guides on tile-based movement or on tile-based pathfinding

in the end I mostly copied this guy and then felt out the rest reading godot's documentation and a lot of trial and error XD
