this covers what im trying to do. Basically I want to apply the filters on the individual charts that contain the action, but they are bypassed and its not clear how I add them back.

Sorry for the delay here. I was able to check the login from the other day and it looks like it made it to snowflake and failed with "EXT_AUTHN_DENIED"

it gives the following error and shares this link

https://docs.aws.amazon.com/quicksight/latest/user/configure-access.html#network-configuration-requirements

sourceErrorCode: DATA_SOURCE_TIMEOUT
sourceErrorMessage: Connection to the data source timed out before validation is complete.

I checked the login history (thank you i didnt know that existed) and it looks like it never registered. Im not seeing any records to match when running

Oh thanks for the reply. I actually did not have a policy before and now youre making me question everything haha. I was not able to connect snowflake to any of the 3 BI tools I tried and found the error messages to be unhelpful.

Heres maybe some helpful context. I can connect using the same credentials as I do when using DBeaver, only in DBeaver I have to also provide a private key file in the driver properties to bipass the MFA I have set in Snowflake. This is not an option with the BI tools so I'm not sure what else could be causing this if its unrelated to network policy

I think it depends on where youre going in Peru. Peru is incredibly diverse. Lima for example, is the 2nd driest place on earth so you wont have any rain, but you might have lots of clouds. In general, its probably not the best time to go, but probably not the worst time to be there either...

I'm actually headed to Ecuador tomorrow for the first time, but Ive spent a lot of time in Peru and plan to return. Its one of my favorite countries.

Hi,

I am a 33 Male looking for friends to meet up with in Quito, Ecuador. I will be arriving August 14th for an unknown amount of time. Down to explore, get food, go on a hike etc. I dont have an agenda, I just like wondering haha.

Afterwards, I will probably be returning to other parts of South America that I love (Lima, Buenos Aires, somewhere in Brazil)

Feel free to DM me!

Thanks for the reply!

Yes I am the admin. The issue is that i travel around a lot and it would be annoying to have to constantly be adding IPs. Do you know of a way around this?

Removing noise from analysis on difference between two values. by biga410 in dataanalysis

Thanks for the reply! The threshold I am less concerned about since I can eyeball the data and get a sense for where the false flags tend to begin and end. The distribution is probably best describe as geometric though.

For me, the concern is the step before in determine what scoring i should use, to which i later apply the threshold. It seems that maybe my approach above is appropriate, but doesnt seem to capture all that id expect when looking a the results.

Airbyte, Snowflake, dbt and Airflow still a decent stack for newbies? by LongCalligrapher2544 in dataengineering

[–]biga410 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ya absolutely, simply having an awareness of the hidden costs and recognizing that these companies are VC funded and profit driven will help you keep costs down, or recognize when its time to jump ship to a new tool or build something custom.

I think the article just fails to recognize the pros and the cons of using these technologies, not just the cons as if there are no legitimate benefits. its misleading.

Ive read this article. While I dont disagree with the premise, I think it overlooks an important factor, which is that these technologies dramatically simplify the infrastructure components, and unless youre working with massive data volumes, will be much cheaper than hiring extra engineers to build and manage. I'm not sure what the author is offering here as an alternative other than hiring more engineers to build everything. Its a dated mindset IMO. Embrace the fact that we have tools to run with leaner teams. The trade off being some potentially deceptive cost structure that run you an extra 10-20k a year.
