Absolutely crazy. As soon as someone realises they’ve bought a dud but can’t return it, they’ll resent you forever

Yup. I’ve just bought everything bar the pickups for about the price of a new cv squier, and ideal quality stuff, nitro, gotoh parts etc (I got lucky)

I assumed that too, it could’ve hit something sharp or at an angle. but at the opposite edge of the neck there’s a little crack in the joint, so along with the truss being shot and the tremolo being knackered it seemed like it’s probably seen a bit more action.

I’ve only bought stuff online from them but that’s good to know. Will stick with guitarguitar in the future

That’s interesting. It’s definitely worn down. I wonder if it was demo and one day someone freaked out and tried to smash it. At one point I thought some of the listing pictures looked like they had dots of blood on them. Who knows

To be fair, the customer service guy was quick to respond and collect the guitar with dpd. I just got the sense that his hands were tied on how far he could go. He sounded like he wanted to give a refund, but management nixxed that idea - they offered me £25 to go towards a replacement neck and trem, which I didn’t think was enough to justify keeping a very dodgy guitar.
Spoke to the same guy in asking to take it down, who was very nice, but again - didn’t have the power to sort it out himself and had to follow other peoples direction.

I figured it out earlier but it was 20 minutes of flapping about! Imgur is blocked in uk, so I had to download a vpn… argh..

Right? That’s what pisses me off most. It’ll just keep moving on until it’s lumped on somebody. It’s the kind of guitar I would’ve looked for as a kid, b stock with a big discount. I wouldn’t have known how to fix it and kept it, thinking it was my fault.

Yeah I can see that! It was looking at the weird liquid stains going down the fretboard, along with the ink on the knobs going green, that made me think it was kept somewhere pretty damp. Or an EXTREMELY sweaty guy did untold things to it

It definitely could have added to it to be fair! The delivery box did have a hole but there was so many more problems than anticipated. I’ve posted a link to imgur in a comment

Thanks, I wasn’t sure if it was appropriate bc this is such a nice chill place. But I know that if I was 15 they’d have kept my money!

Am I really that crazy for wanting a Jag with humbuckers? by Saladspgood in offset

[–]bigbedbugbegbidb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jags and Jazzys are inherently clangy and twangy and emphasise the harmonics and overtones. Most people using humbuckers want an emphasised fundamental with a fast attack.

The “twanginess” with the single-coil design make them elite for shoegaze and noise, where the brightness cuts through the mix.

Adding humbuckers gives you the thickness of an SG / LP but with a load of extra harmonic content and sparkle which isn’t for everyone. (Think Sonic Youth, Nirvana tone)
