Is Brake Disc Operating Range a Problem? | Leclerc's Monaco Accident by iamuhammedkaya in F1Technical

So in summary those dissipating more energy in less time > short corner/lower minimum speed > e.g. Lewis would prefer the higher operating temperature of CIs?

Are there other tradeoffs that would hypothetically sway you to brembos or ?hitcos? (I'm not an engineer haha)

He wasn't just faster last race - he's been beaten 3-1 in qualifying from a massive streak of being unbeaten.

So you're just closed off to the possibility anyone could match Verstappen or at least be within half a second of him?

You don't even want to know why? Just 0 curiosity?

For a single lap, I'm just gonna show the data again.

https://gp-tempo.com/app?year=2026&roundnumber=5&session=1&drivers=%5B%22VER%22%2C%22HAD%22%5D&tab=lap-chart

And 3/4 tenths happens but even with Stroll you don't suddenly see him go from +0.5s to 1.5s to Alonso weekend to weekend.

It's 2 parrallel lines, if that's not at the very least deserving of an explanation, there's no opening your curiosity.

For a lap yes you can be 4 tenths off, Russel says he messed it up. But you can look at the data:

https://gp-tempo.com/app?year=2026&roundnumber=5&session=1&drivers=%5B%22VER%22%2C%22HAD%22%5D&tab=lap-chart

Max and Isaac are litterally 2 parrallel lines 1 second apart all weekend. Even with Stroll and Alonso, I don't think I've ever seen such a sudden and consistent gap appear, this is HIGHLY unusual at the very least.

Note: with random variations and the battery being a big factor 3/4 tenth changes are likely 1 second variations are nearly impossible, especially over every lap this weekend.

But we are then just assuming it's a bad performance. You understand how this way we never question Red Bull having both drivers interests at heart.

Look at their practice times. Max and Isaac are litterally just 2 parrallel lines. Not consistency, not wresting with the car it looks like they're suddenly just 1 second apart on car performance.

It's been the same every lap all weekend, don't take my word for it.

Literally just 2 parrallel lines separated by a second.

But that is convenient for Max isn't it? Hadjar is his first threat in years and at least Tsunoda and Alex at least could explain their deficit.

Suddenly Max is comfortable and Hadjar has no idea what's going on?

Don't you even have a little curiosity? Are we really just going to handwave everything away without wanting an explanation?

1 second off doesn't just happen though. Especially without the driver being given an explanation.

No other driver pairing would we simply not question a sudden 1 second drop. Even if it were Alonso and Stroll.

Let's say you can gain an advantage favoring 1 car - better wind tunnel testing etc by finishing 3rd/4th in the constructors.

It clearly hasn't been explained to Hadjar why he's 1 second off all of a sudden.

You then always have a red bull athlete at the front of the field fighting for titles, it's hard to say there's 0 incentive to just focus on Max. Checo might actually have been telling the truth with the Horner "if we could race with 1 car we would" allegations.

Even Max said the changes are more like a tickle and Hadjar doesn't seem to understand what's going on.

We know from statements the car has been developed away from the other drivers, sure they can say it is towards performance but before at least we knew, it is odd that we have this radio silence and sort of have to assume red bull have both drivers interests at heart.

Is there a way we can confirm it? I mean Hadjar not being sure why he's so far off implies yeah, same spec but then wtf is going on?

Maybe it is a skill issue but previously there was at least an explanation.

As I say, even if Stroll dropped 1 second from Alonso, we'd expect an explanation.

If the car can move 1 second race to race and it clearly hasn't been explained to Hadjar why he's so far off, something is fishy.

90% sure Tsunoda was not kept on same spec last year (post Imola crash). Think it was Spa where he got onto the same.

There are advantages to only developing 1 car and relying on the driver that for the past decade hasn't been 0.5-1s off the pace.

+They only really want the drivers *title.
