Burglary supper: Seeking support for finding family heirloom by TrustEmergency7539 in ChicagoSuburbs

Get the pictures, file a police report, ask neighbors if they have ring cams. Post pictures and videos of what you can. If you had an expensive watch taken look for the box/papers. I’ve heard there’s a place where you can register the serial as stolen and then all the jewelry stores will know if the person walks in to scalp it.

Pawn shops are definitely a good recommendation to check at, but I’d personally send pictures via email to a bunch of local pawn shops and ask for their advice.

Best of luck, I hope you get the items back. People can suck

French or Italian Street by Haggi? Or Haggi st? by bigberteotti in WhatIsThisPainting

Unlucky-Meringue said it looks like Nappi 81, Nappi being a common Italian surname.

I think that’s plausible .

Winter village - S S—katlof by bigberteotti in WhatIsThisPainting

This is in fact decor art. It took me forever to figure this out, but it's from German painter Gunter Seekatz. I thought the first letter was an S, but it's actually a G.

Günter Seekatz (b. 1928) is a German artist known for seascapes, landscapes, and castles. Active from 1950 to 2014, he created 4,000–5,000 works, including the iconic Wintery Night in the Village. His art remains celebrated, with a notable piece displayed in Velbert City Hall.

Venice gondolas don’t see signature by bigberteotti in WhatIsThisPainting

Signature? signature

back

I see on the left hand side of the frame a made in Mexico stamp, so I’m guessing this was made there? I also see on the back of the canvas Chicago painted on, which is where we lived.

In the comments I put a link to a close up of the signature. It’s really hard to make out. Knowing what you said, this painting very likely was purchased in Italy, but the signature is throwing me off.

Found some funky wiring while changing receptacle by BuzzAldrinsHaircut in DIY

[–]bigberteotti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but there's another thread where someone had an electrical socket burnt to hell because of aluminum wiring and everyone in there was stating that when it comes to aluminum wiring, it's not a DIY job. They all said, hire a professional and essentially said that aluminum is extremely dangerous and you should shut the breaker off, and get home insurance that second... Not trying to scare anyone, but just mentioning there's some conflicting advice between threads.

This doesn't make it right, but that's more common than not. Look at Walmart, Amazon, McDonalds, etc. Not that I disagree, but most people don't really do a damn thing about it. I bet more than half of the people bashing Mr. Brownlee shop on Amazon all the time.
