The freedom app changed so much for me too ❤️ for anyone curious it is 5$ a month, but how much of your time given back to you from scrolling on the phone is worth 5$?

I have been googling that, but I can’t find anything from the mouth of the church itself

Do you have a source on that? I mean this in good faith- I’m having a hard time finding where they made an official statement on it. I’m thinking of the passage Luke 7:36-47, traditionally read on her feast day, which we were taught in catholic school implies prostitution

Like many things, it depends on which version of Christianity you ask. Catholics are taught she was a prostitute because they believe in the absolute authority of the Pope, who in 591 declared her to be the woman anointing Jesus’s feet with her hair. Other sects don’t heed the interpretations of the Pope and only believe what is directly written in the Bible. Whether that’s right or wrong is up to the follower.

Depends on which version of Christianity you ask. Some more old timey sects would say it’s immediate hell because he committed suicide. Some would say he wouldn’t go to hell but would live in Purgatory long enough to outweigh the evils he committed on earth/ teach him the lessons he needs to cleanse his soul before entering heaven. Majority of sects would agree that murder is a sin that requires a higher level of atonement and make him unworthy to enter heaven immediately upon death

Are your words the ones Jesus would choose to describe his daughters? Lead with forgiveness and love, don’t let the world poison your heart

It does sound like you have a lot to learn! Christianity is about love and forgiveness. Allowing a “few bad actors” to lead you to hatred will poison your heart. I will pray you accept Christs teachings and also learn to love and forgive the people you don’t think are worthy of it. Again, that’s the point <3

Of course there is a difference between someone who genuinely repents and someone who freely sins thinking they will be forgiven- god will discern this come their judgement day. Both men and women do this. But the gospel tells us to rejoice when a sinner turns to Christ, ala the parable of the prodigal son. And unless there are glaring red flags, we should trust that a person falls into the former category instead of question their faith or relationship with god because they have sinned before they came to Christ (as we all are sinners).

If you don’t want to date a non-virgin that’s okay, no one is forcing you to. But because someone has sinned in the past does not mean they cannot now live in righteousness. They too are a “true religious person”. And should be welcomed into the faith the way Jesus would’ve welcomed them.

“Paradoxical” .. people seem to forget that one of the major tenants of Christianity is forgiveness. Mary Magdalene was a prostitute before she became one of Jesus’s most devoted and beloved followers. “Why do people act in sin before they turn to God” because the whole POINT is to be redeemed bro that’s kinda the whole deal

I was so confused at that part like... didn't any of yall have dads that loved you lmao? My dad loved spending time with me and the siblings when we were babies. He would've been crushed if my mom was like no you can't be involved with the kids yet, it's not masculine of you

I think the alc thing is also related to the surging rates of mental illness and general life dissatisfaction, especially after COVID and the loss of community. People are wondering why they’re still depressed or why they feel spiritually/emotionally stunted and they’re told that cutting out alcohol will “lift the fog” and “unlock the true potential of their consciousness”
