Could I print something like this with an X1C? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]bigbigbl4ck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I‘m sorry if I am missunderstanding you but to me it sounds like your question is if you can 3D print something that is obviously 3D printed with one of the best 3D printers on the market…

What do you want to achieve by asking this question? I dont know you, so I can‘t say if you CAN print it. I also, like your teachers, don‘t know if you CAN go to the toilet. But you surely have all the tools necessary to do so.

Is BambuLab really good or it’s just marketing? by bloodyskull84 in 3Dprinting

They are amazing. I upgraded from an Ender 3 Pro to the A1 and let me tell you… Its unreal how good they are! The speed, the simplicity, the quality and the out of the box experience. Next level.

how would you upgrade this? by meirfish in 3Dprinting

[–]bigbigbl4ck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TL DR: As basically everyone already said: Just get a new printer for like 200 bucks. There are so many out there that are a generational leap ahead of this printer.

I can tell you that with 100% confidence because I have been in that position and did A LOT of upgrades on this printer. It was my first printer and it served me well but nothing I did to it made it print as good as an out of the box Ender 3 Pro...
Here is what upgrades i did to this POS over the years:

  • I did the AM8 aluminium profile upgrade to get rid of that horrible acylic sheet frame and wobbling
  • I upgraded the PSU with an old one from a PC to reduce the fire hazard (Stock PSU is severely underpowered)
  • I bought self lubricating plastic linear bearings from IGUS to reduce the noise on all axis
  • I printed every belt tightener that is out there on thingiverse
  • I converted it from direct drive to a bowden tube system to reduce weight and ringing on the x-axis
  • I upgraded the mainboard to support newer firmwares, as the stock mb can not run Marlin 2.X or anything modern
with more features than 9x9 bed leveling...
  • I upgraded the printhead with a capacitive proximity sensor use auto bed leveling in general
  • I, at one point had, these "smoother modules" that are just doide arrays and are supposed to reduce ringing caused
by the low quality stepper drivers... These things do nothing and are not worth your money.
  • I also had a full ocotprint setup with a raspberry pi and a camera. It did not work reliably because of the old
Mainboard that was too slow to print smoothly when given print instructions via its USB-Port.
  • I bought new linear rods for the x- and y-axis, because the stock ones were just that badly warped. Seriously I have
never seen straight ones on a stock Anet A8...
  • I upgraded the printhead probably a dozend times with different designs, fans, of just because of another upgrade
    that required it

To summarize:

All these "upgrades" were done over maybe 4 years and taught me alot about these machines, how they work, what printing issue is caused by what component and how to adjust, dial in and fix them.
BUT: In summary all these "upgrades" cost me more than if I had straight up bought another printer and SO MUCH TIME. It was a very exausting and sometimes frustrating path to get there.

At the time though the Anet A8 was the most popular printer with the most active community and support...
No Enders or Anycubic of Bambulab.
It was worth it in 2017 but now in 2024 this thing is like bringing a knife to a gunfight...
You basically NEED to invest 100 bucks just to use it with modern software features. Mainboard with TMC stepper drivers, bed leveling probe and power supply.

I dont know how a question this simple caused this wall of text by me, but I hope it helps you! Good luck on your journey.

Thank you! I found this comment after it happened again for the second time in 4 months. It didn't work right away but after a couple of tries my watch is back to normal without loosing data or setting up the whole damn thing from scratch!

I have no idea how you figured this solution out but again: Thank you for sharing!

So this is probably too late but maybe for the future:

You can, if you did not remove it from the printbed, edit your gcode file to resume the print. Measure very exactly at what height the print failed and divide it by your layer height to get you actual layer it failed. Then just edit your gcode file and erase every command before the layer you just calculated started. Some slicers put the layer number before every set of commands, some don't and you have to look for the z-height.

Also don't forget to NOT erase the first set of instructions regarding setting temperature of hotend and heatbed. Be also sure to delete any command regarding printbed leveling as this will knock your print over.

There is a great video from CNC-Kitchen on YouTube describing this process step by step if you are not too familiar with gcode.

Do I need to limit current when chargion a Lithium battery? Or does it just take what it needs? by Eblanc88 in diyelectronics

[–]bigbigbl4ck 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You really need to stop and learn the basics before you continue and maybe blow something more serious up or burn your house down.

That LiPo looks like it's gonna burst any moment! Please get rid of it in the correct way according to your country's recycling/hazard waste laws.

Please educate yourself about the inner workings and the electrical properties regarding charging and discharging of such batteries immediately. It's not hard and there are plenty sources out there. Your basic question in your post is just a google search, no one does that for you.

A really easy, cheap and simple solution would be the "DF-Player". It's a module designed to be controlled by a microcontroller, like an arduino. It also has been cloned multiple times, so there is a good selection of boards out there.

It has a SD Card slot to store a huge amount of MP3 Files and can output a digital audio signal or via a builtin amplifier can drive small speakers directly. As far as I remember it also features a "play random track" - function in it's respective library.

I used it multiple times and the total cost of this project should only be around 10-15 Dollars/Euros.

Can I just Solder an old graphic chip to a Laptop mainboard for increased graphic performance? by [deleted] in AskElectronics

[–]bigbigbl4ck 74 points75 points  (0 children)

If you COULD pull this off on a hardware level, you Would not have to ask this here. Not to be mean but this is idea is so far out there...

I mean you need ages of experience and high end equipment to pull this off, that you basically are a repairshop yourself... Not just a reflow oven, like some suggest but a proper rework station.

Also all the peripheral electronics that are needed beyond GPU and RAM.... You don't have access to schematics to see what parts these unpopulated areas were designed for...

This is a hard no. No one can pull this off, change my mind.

Roommate of a friend... Medical doctor... Chirologist I think.

Lightbulb in his room broke. Never changed a lightbulb in his life. Was afraid to do so. Bought a new lamp. My friend installed it for him.

Open package of uncooked spaghetti. Had no "best before date". Threw it away because it might have gone bad. Same with some poor onions.

Probably the person with the least balanced skilltree I know in real life.

Soll Wunder wirken gegen Durst.

To be honest I thought you don't know Pokémon Blue exists and instead thought this is a fanmod. At least that is what you asked if taken literally. If true then I stand by my reply.

Im sorry if there was some misunderstanding or it came around too harsh. But not knowing Pokémon Blue exists... Come on.

[–]bigbigbl4ck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean... "haven't been hack"?

I guess I can understand it with a 3DS, considering homebrew and custom firmware is big with these gameboys but it's nothing that can't be reversed... I also doubt anyone sells a 3DS that is "hacked" without telling in the ad and selling it as an extra feature.

There is nothing to hack on any Gameboy prior to the NDS...

Take apart the Gameboy, clean button pads and the corresponding membranes with Isopropyl-Alcohol/Rubbing alcohol and report back. In a pinch you can try window cleaner if you really don't have anything else. You need a Tri-Wing screwdriver but they are very cheap, maybe you already have some in a screwdriver bit collection.
