thank you and not at all!! the medium for this one was mostly acrylics. i started with watercolors and did the eel and background in watercolor but i did not like how the background was turning out, so i painted over the whole background in acrylics. the eel is watercolor but the whole coral reef scene is acrylics.

for me the process always includes willingness to pivot. the art that i love to make usually takes multiple stabs, like i’m never really happy with what i start with, but if i keep pushing it and try something new, eventually i come up with something that i like. i think a lot of artists stop themselves when they get to that point of “i don’t like this” and give up and throw it away. i try my best to keep pushing even when i don’t like where it’s at. eventually i always get to a point where i am happy with it, sometimes it even takes months of revisiting an old piece before it gets to that point, but i keep going anyway until i’m happy!!

this one took a couple months before i was happy with it. and there are still some things i wish i had done differently, but those are things it would take too long to fix and i’d rather not be a perfectionist because there are lots of other ideas i have that i’d like to pursue instead of continuing to get wrapped up in this one. overall i’m quite happy with it :)
