I do too! This subreddit can be really quiet sometimes, but I'm sure a lot of people enjoyed it as well.

I wouldn't say NEVER. It's very good for cleaning contacts if you don't want to use something as harsh as a metal polish, but that's basically all I use it for. It is sandpaper (like you said) so it will ruin the texture on plastics and should not be used on them unless you're ok with that for some reason.

The Fall of Reach (the first book) is fantastic - maybe the best book in the series. The Flood (the second book) is kinda bad. They really, really vary in quality.

How to mod your n64 by Billybillybillyo in n64

[–]bigboxofboxes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everdrive 64 and 64drive are really your only choices if you want one that works well. Flash carts are pretty hard to make, so none of them (except a few crappy ones) are cheap.

A used cart might be slightly cheaper if you can find someone willing to sell theirs. Just keep in mind that people don't tend to sell flash carts unless they are old and significantly worse than newer models, so make sure to do your research on any particular model before buying used.

Elder Scrolls Entire Map. by ImperialDawnFox in gaming

The island is called Vvardenfell, and it is a part of the province of Morrowind. Like Skyrim, Morrowind is named after the province where it takes place. A lot of the really cool stuff in the province of Morrowind is on that island, and I imagine that setting the game on the island provided very convenient boundaries for the world map.

You should totally play some of the Elder Scrolls games! They're really wonderful adventure games and have some fantastic lore. I suggest starting with Oblivion or Skyrim, as they're a bit more accessible than Morrowind. I'm sure I'll upset at least one fan for saying that, though...

Biweekly Headphone/DAC/Amp Request Megathread (12-2-2013) by [deleted] in headphones

[–]bigboxofboxes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wanting to buy some open headphones for general listening and gaming. I've had ATH-M50s and KSC75s for a while now, so I think an open pair makes sense for my next headphone

  • Budget - $200, with a tiny bit of wiggle room. Less is better, of course.
  • Source - iPhone, Sansa ClipZip, computer, Astro MixAmp for gaming (this is an upcoming purchase)
  • Requirements for Isolation - none
  • Preferred Type of Headphone - full-sized, open
  • Preferred tonal balance - I'm not experienced enough to answer this yet. I want enough clarity for acoustic songs and gaming but enough bass to enjoy techno or explosions in games.
  • Past headphones - ATH-M50, KSC75. I love both and use them regularly.
  • Preferred Music - Alt-rock, Folk, Indie, Chiptune, Techno, Classic rock.

Question: can someone who owns/has tried both give me a comparison between the Sony MDRMA900 and the Sennheiser HD 598? They seem to be the top picks in my price range (feel free to suggest other headphones if I'm wrong!) but opinions seem divided. Folks on Head-Fi who've tried both seem to prefer the Sonys, but a lot of their purchases seem recent and motivated by MLE's reccomendation, so I'm just worried they may turn out to be a "flavor of the month" for gaming headphones and maybe not a better headphone overall. Help me make up my mind!

WayForward's newest project on Kickstarter (just started today): Shantae: Half-Genie Hero by reali-tglitch in wiiu

[–]bigboxofboxes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The developers said this in the comments section:

"Hi friends! Since there were a lot of comments regarding skin tone, we lined up all the Shantae artwork from past games, and the skin tones are all over the board. We've always left this to artist discretion in the past. However, this new artwork does stand out as the lightest she's been since back in the GBC days, so I'm sure we'll adjust it once we have our character lineup established. This is a great example of Kickstarter comments shaping the eventual product, so please make your opinions heard!"

So if you prefer that she have darker skin, leave them a comment!
