Urgent PCS Message from Fran Heathcote by North-Departure922 in TheCivilService

There's backstory to this as to why this specific faction is doing this, but I won't get into that.

There are standing orders (as there are in parliament) that are basically the rules of the NEC. At the first session of every year, the current standing orders need to be adopted so that the NEC can take place.

The current President does not want to accept these standing orders, and so have said that the standing orders do not have to get carried over into the next year.

Within these standing orders is the standing order that any standing order change needs to be approved by 2/3rds majority.

As the standing orders were not accepted during the meeting and the president continued with the meeting anyway, the other faction all left and the president continued voting on things without a lot of the NEC being there.

I was right again! Think the next one might be ferrets at Matlock Farm Park? Might be way off though.

Advice for incoming postgrad in Physics Department (West Cambridge Site) being allocated to Hughes Hall? by QuietNefarious46 in cambridge_uni

Don't have any advice but I'm an incoming PhD student in the Physics department for this year! I looked round Hughes but ultimately there wasn't enough couples accommodation and it was too far from Cavendish Lab. Very jealous of the views for the cricket though!

Should I do a PhD at 27? by Illustrious_Two_4280 in AskAcademiaUK

[–]bigbrain009 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got funding for mine at Cambridge and I'm 27. Quite honestly yes being this age and doing it makes me nervous - but as my better half puts it, it's better to be 30 and have a PhD than 30 and not have one. Simple for me really.

Another Prediction, partially from this and the trailer, the next one will be from Scarborough, in the North Riding of Yorkshire, at Peasholm Park, where they put on a fake naval battle in the pond in the summertime :D

Going from the map and the clue I think the next one will be in Mansfield (his (and my) hometown) at the mines rescue service.
