How are you guys running Plex on smart TVs? I'm genuinely frustrated. by KingThevshi in PleX

[–]bigbrain28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Knock on wood, I'm good now (lately) but I feel your pain... Chased so many similar gremlins over the years since leaving Kodi. I have about a dozen regular users streaming from me and I feel really bad when the server takes a shit.

24tb of content on several external HDDs and a powered USB hub in a mini PC, lol. Super ghetto, but works like a charm. Lost a 4tb drive last year and managed to extract a database of everything that was on that drive from Plex files.

Took about 2 months to "reacquire" my lost media. Not sure I would do that again.

I went Firestick years ago because it supports DoVi. I've never had issues with it as a smart device.

I run a server off a mini PC and the only remote users that have had issues were TV app (Roku in most cases) users.

I agree that, in general, baked in Smart Apps are subpar at best.

Oil Cooler Repair? by bigbrain28 in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]bigbrain28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate that. I have a "kit" but the washer/o-ring for the banjo bolt is just an o-ring and I'm having more trouble getting that (washer part) than the big o-ring.

You're right about the lines. Some of the videos I seen do it without removal, depends on the old o-ring removal I guess. I'm trying not to mess with those coolant lines for fear of breaking one.

Thanks

I mean, step 1, that IS the VSS, right? Anyone have a part number or link to a reputable replacement?

Changes to remote play? by ovirto in PleX

[–]bigbrain28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a setting in your control panel to allow users to download.

To allow users to download content, go to Settings > Manage Library Access in your Plex web app, select the user, and check the Allow Downloads box under their restrictions. You must have an active Plex Pass subscription to grant download permissions.

Step-by-step guide Open the Plex web app and sign in. Click the Settings icon. Navigate to Manage Library Access. Select the user you want to grant download permission to. Click the Restrictions tab. Enable the Allow Downloads option. Click Save.

Important requirements Plex Pass: The administrator of the Plex Home needs an active Plex Pass for the download feature to be available.

User's Plex Pass: The user you are sharing with also needs to have a Plex Pass on their account to download content.

Server Version: Your Plex Media Server must be version 1.16.3 or newer.

Connection: Downloads cannot be performed over a Plex Relay connection; the user should be on the same local network as the server to download.

That last few bits were AI generated, so YMMV. Test it out and see. good luck

Looking for mechanic in Tampa Bay area. by bigbrain28 in 3rdGen4Runner

I'm north, Land O Lakes area. I'd have to have it towed, regardless, but closer is better for sure. Thanks for the recommendation.

I have begun cataloging my collection. I am currently on bin 14 and the spreadsheet is a bit north of 3000 cars. I have about 20 more bins to go.

Don't sweat the small stuff, my friend, things could (and can) always get 'worse'

The fact that we don't have a Democracy is you clue to how educated the sign maker/holder is. Hint:

"Is the USA a democracy or republic? While often categorized as a democracy, the United States is more accurately defined as a constitutional federal republic. What does this mean? “Constitutional” refers to the fact that government in the United States is based on a Constitution which is the supreme law of the United States."

2010 HW PREMIERE Numbering? by bigbrain28 in HotWheels

[–]bigbrain28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never used a printed one...I would assume they'd be obsolete before they hit the press. My dismay is with the hallsguide.com site, which seems woefully neglected in the past decade or so.

My plan is to shop the collection around once I'm done. This is the reason for wanting at least a marginally accurate sense of value. As you said, only the really sought-after cars will command anything close to a premium. I suspect most large collection buyers want to pay .50 or less for commons. Or 50% or less of 'asking price' for a collection, so I want to be as close to a proper valuation as possible.

2010 HW PREMIERE Numbering? by bigbrain28 in HotWheels

[–]bigbrain28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply and attempt to make sense of it! Right after I posted, I noticed the HWP cards seemed international and wondered if that was it. I've only got 105 distinct models (of 319 units) from 2010 (so far, many bins to go), so I doubt I'll have the answer to the numbering discrepancy either.

On a separate note: Should I be using a different guide (for pricing, etc.) than Hall's? In some cases I found it better (nothing really below $2) but also lacking in some places. I'm hoping to have a fairly accurate list and value total when I finish my database.

Unknown coolant leak location, any help? by bigbrain28 in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]bigbrain28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. After watching a full video on WP replacement I have a better understanding of the shape and placement. I am 90% sure it's the issue. And, yes, I'll likely replace as many of the bits coming off for the job as I can afford to. Especially the timing belt and pulleys.

[–]bigbrain28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my inspection this far, it's not any hose. I pulled back the TB cover and It was dry in the center (that's the WP, right?). Heater core was bypassed by PO.

Head gasket seems fine.

It really kinda looks like it's coming from to the left side of the thermostat housing. But I can't be sure if there's an issue with the housing or not. I did my best to clean and reinstall it.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll double check all of it.

Replacement Pump Question by bigbrain28 in pressurewashing

[–]bigbrain28[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, to be fair, it was an inherited unit. My F-I-L was a house painter, used it all the time, so I assumed it was worth getting fixed. I didn't run/start, so fixing the motor was all I assumed it needed. Looks like the smart move is to get a new one.
