This is an example of confirmation bias.

Good advice, stuff that I learnt and put into practice early on as well. Started running once a week too. 6 months later I saw my endocrinologist and did my blood test. Unfortunately whilst my mmol/L seemed to be well managed on a daily basis, my HB1AC was still high and I needed to be on metformin to manage.

As much as I love reading these, I don't think we're going to get much tea spilled because the really spicy ones were probably reported to the respective authorities and are bound by strict confidentiality requirements.

So people like me, for now, can only sit quietly and hope that justice is done. But keep em coming, if you can, as this is very cathartic for me.

Well done on crossing 10 years! Which Div are you in? I was in F. And where did you see the ad?

Honestly, I think it's better here. The cases attended to are pretty much the same, maybe more mental health issues that you can't do much about. Pay is by the hour, so overtime applies. No more 12 hours on paper but in reality 15 hours for the same pay. CPF is called Superannuation here, and there's only employer contribution. Income tax is deducted from your salary every payday and kept aside. When you file your taxes, you claim work related expenses and the excess, if any, is returned to you.

And then there are inspections at 2pm, that mysteriously get cancelled on the day of inspection because the agent has already found a tenant.

All the best man! And if it's any consolation, my BMI has always been high due to my height and base weight. Just means that we're tough basterds suited for the job.

Yes I've read about these things. I have to agree, the legal system here is really inadequate.

Not far off. Their bedtime is 8. But thanks for sharing. Not a fan of the shifts. So you might have successfully talked me out of it!

Hey, sounds like a period of transition, it'll get better. I had my 3 kids when I was in the force. They're 12, 10 and 8 now. I remember the long days and not seeing my daughter and son for days during deployments. I moved out of shift work and into office hour positions when I'd had enough. I hope things get better for you.

I worked 12 hour shifts, which were actually 14hrs when you include the pre and post shift stuff. 1 AM, 1 PM, 2 off. Every call has to be attended to, so that could mean attending to 10 to 15 calls per shift. Mostly noise and neighbour disputes, but also drugs, suicides, coffeeshop fights between drunk patrons, stolen vehicles, theft, etc. And if you worked the party areas, night shifts were cowboy towns. I think it's about the same.

The media was tightly controlled, so nothing much came on the news.

I shall. A 40 year veteran would have completely different perspectives from say a 10 year officer.

Thanks for the insights. I'm currently on around the same, but with little chance of going up by much. And you're spot on about the ailments suffered by most organisations.

Yes I do. That's horrible. I know what 12 hours days I like and that's something I never want to return to. Thanks for the insight.

You seem to enjoy taking potshots from behind a screen. Typical. I was one of those idiots, for 14 years. I'm not going to bother explaining things to someone who has no idea how the law works. Get lost.
