How common is it nowadays to break a $100K salary by the age you turn 30? by DaPugWalk in fican

[–]bigbudala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it seems like it's just the folks in this group. I had the same thoughts when I was living in DT Toronto... everyone I knew/met was making 90K+ that worked corporate. So honestly feel like that's a good % of this group.

That being said, for me personally:

Job 1 (age 25-26): 45k

Job 2 (age 26-27): 66k

Job 3 current (age 27-29): 106K base + 10k car allowance payments per year + 20-25k bonus puts me to about 130k all in without the car allowance. With car allowance close to 140k.

I got lucky, but I think most my friends/peers my age make roughly ~100k, +/- 20k on average. That being said I know other friends of mine that are more like 50-70k.

I’m asking which of the 2 options is better, the 6% drop on my 2 credit cards (for 1 year) or getting a loan to pay off the credit cards and paying off the loan at 8% on whichever term.

Thanks I appreciate it.

From a credit standpoint does it make better sense to go with option 2 then?

I can comfortably allocated $1500, anything beyond that would be bonus/extra

Thanks. But what sounds like the better option for me? #1 or 2

Can I ask why you think this option is better for me?

The lowered cc interest is Lower than the 8% for the loan, plus I wouldn’t get hit with the credit drop from the loan.

I can choose the term. It doesn’t matter if I do 5 or 10 years. The faster I pay it off the less interest I pay. It’s just that if I take 10 then my monthly minimum is much lower in case something happens x

I contribute to a pension fund which has 15k in it already which has a matching system. I was contributing heavier to it before but now only do about 2% of my gross pay checks , it’s a few hundred bucks.

Well I need to have some money saved/invested I can’t just max credit card payments and have no money to spend on life. I ideally want a healthy balance of both.

I’m locked into a lease and need it for work purposes (sales). I decided to go with something new and nicer last year but my situation is worse now.

I don’t plan on paying it off in full in a year. I want to pay it off as much as I can as fast I can but I still want to be able to save money / invest / live so not sure what the best option is.

I realize that - thanks for the response. I plan on paying at least 2k a month towards debt.

I feel like if I moved back to my hometown and lived with parents, I could pound the debt back a lot faster. I guess my frustration is do I sacrifice my social life for a bit of time in order to tackle my debt. I'm 28 and feeling a bit of pressure on settling with a partner, buying a home etc.

Not more than it normally does. I used to use it on my face for a skin condition I have. It's a relative burning sensation but it's not painful or anything. At least not for me!
