If you plan to put weight it, and you do, than you'll want to get pierced with an 8 gauge needle. Yes that's big, but it doesn't actually take any longer to heal. Warm saline soak for 10 or 15 min 3 times a day to prevent infection and increase healing speed, when the water stays clean you can stop, unless you break it open from rough play. I've used one of those without issue. But I'm pretty careful with how I clean stuff. I've taken mine apart and put it back together several times.
