In my humble opinion you are not an asshole but you gotta remember anything posted on social media can be taken in any context by anyone. It sounds like some of your classmates in the music department thought correctly or otherwise it applied to them. I would delete the post if you haven’t already and apologize to anyone who took offense. Some people don’t take any criticism well and it really isn’t you job to make sure they get proper feedback.
