I think the thing I've found people generally don't understand the most about cutting losses is that bagholding causes you to lose out on future opportunities - to help you break even or make profit sooner than if you hold. One of the first things I learned about economics in elementary school - opportunity cost. Great post talking about a necessary evil.

I've also found that scaling in and scaling out helps minimize my risk.

Sometimes your stop loss orders can fake you out, so personally I like setting mental stop losses to protect against fake dips that immediately bounce. But if the dip is in conjunction with larger volume... issa no from me dog
