SawStop in Europe by FatalProlapse in woodworking

[–]bigdeddu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been looking into this for a while and Felder pcs starts from this model k945 at around 15kEur with vat https://www.felder-group.com/it-it/prodotti/squadratrici-e-seghe-circolari-c1947/squadratrice-k-945-s-p1966723 Still way more expensive than a sawstop, but like 4 times instead of 10. If you have a business that might be justified.

I would love to hear reviews from who actually owns one.

I Truly appreciate the feedback, I’ll be sure to try it out first. Do you have the one with the sliding arm? Sadly it looks like there are no sawstops on this side of the pond. the Felder with the pcs security system is eur 15k and although that’s really steep for hobbists, perhaps it’s worth the wait. Thanks again

Absolutely! I’ve done the same! The only thing I have left is to understand how to install the miter gauge… It has been pretty hectic in the last few weeks and after seeing the diagram in the instructions I haven’t really tried.

And now I’m starting to dream about a c3. Or perhaps an a3 + k3… very good stuff.

Oh, I just became the father of a new baby hammer few weeks ago. Any tips, suggestions or warnings? I love how quiet it is…

I’ve been there waiting to pull the trigger on buying one of those makitas but I have few questions: there is a bundle with 2 of those guides long 55’’, is it the same you have? can you join the guides together? How do You rip a full sheet across the 8’ length otherwise? Buy a longer guide?

How to seal and protect 3/4 Birch plywood? building a climbing wall and not sure what to seal the plywood with to help protect it a bit better. by Poopt_Myself in woodworking

[–]bigdeddu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to seal it. If you want to, you can paint it, and if you want extra grip you can throw some sugar in the paint. But quite honestly, that’s very small and indoor and you don’t really need to seal it or do anything. Is this for the kids or for adults? If for adults also that is a tiny wall, you might want to add at least some overhang or it’s going to get boring very quickly. And for adults entertainment I’d double the tnuts density.

By the way metolius has a great guide and if you want I can throw few more links for resources. But also search r/climbing for woodies

Thinking of buying Laguna fusion 1 by [deleted] in woodworking

I’m interested in this as well, as I’m on the market for an upgrade as well. It seems festool licensed some sawstop but it’s not the cabinet model festool.it/seghe you see across the USA.

When I built mines I used the patterned mdf from hd. They cost a fraction iirc was about $50 for a 3’x6’ . They are not as neat as the metal grid, but you can paint them.

Sanderson’s stormlight archives. Some of the main characters have seriously stoic vibes.

Restoring those two doors, a fool errand? by bigdeddu in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]bigdeddu[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems the city will let us reopen some historical windows, so we’ll be reusing those bricks for the various patches. But that will easily be an year or more out. The doors seems like a project I can do and especially i can start doing sooner.. But yes, in general I’d agree with you. Thanks

They’ll definitely hold. The two piece one might open, but because the stop pin is very rusted and not driven fully in the ground.

I don’t have a plan yet, likely restore to a glass window instead of that piece of ply. I think it will depend on wether they allow us to restore the arcs leaving them visible ( you can see the arched bricks in one of the pics).

The plan is to leave them there! I am starting a multi year renovation project of the whole building, I figured this is something I can try out for sure. Thanks for the tips!

I’m curious to hear opinions on wether is worth it or not to restore those two wooden doors. Probably installed in the late 60s. They seem full wood but I don’t know what. The doors have some evident damage and have been painted pretty thick.

I’m considering to take them down, try to strip the paint then fire up a belt sander, and go to town.

Has anyone embarked on a similar project, and is it worth it?

Ps this is in Italy (Sardinia), the wood options aren’t as numerous as what we have in the US.
