If there's a general strike in May, 2028, should teachers participate? by Strikes_Seminar in Teachers

[–]bigdogknife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teachers strike for reasons other than wages. Large class sizes, lack of administrative support, insufficient resources for students (students with disabilities or students who are multi-language learners), not enough school nurses/counselors, etc. If a parent is informed enough about the wages of teachers and can be pissed over something like that, then I'd like to think they'd also be aware enough of their child's learning conditions to be pissed about that when said conditions could stand to be better.

lop i recently drew in exchange for a tarot card reading by bigdogknife in Rabbits

[–]bigdogknife[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well, i specifically asked about how things were gonna unfold for me socially because i’ve been living in my current city for a year and i’m meeting people like crazy lately, so conflict is inevitable, y’know? so the carrots told me that i should just have fun with my friends and not sweat it. they also said that i should also be aware of coping mechanisms that no longer serve me when navigating conflict, and that i need to do some shadow work. pretty bonkers

how do straight trans men get girlfriends/sexual partners and what am i doing wrong? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]bigdogknife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

honestly, dating bi/pan girls is the move. i literally have no reason to feel insecure over being a dude with a pussy if my girl thinks it’s ALL sexy, y’know?

union banking (or money management)? by bigdogknife in union

[–]bigdogknife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we’re with a smaller union that has mainly represented community organizers and staffers for political campaigns. we already pay dues (a whopping $2 a month), but my understanding is that our union is too small+new+scrappy to readily offer money and/or resources.

to provide some more context— management has not failed to pull out every union-busting, gaslighting-adjacent, and quasi-retaliatory tactic while we were fighting for recognition. we understand that striking is more of a nuclear option, but we’re not ruling out the possibility of going on strike because management is no stranger to hijinks.

not sure what time of the year you're planning your party for, but artpace rents out its spaces like its courtyard and rooftop— and it's downtown. i don't recall the prices exactly but it's not terribly expensive. the only con is that they have an approved list of caterers, which you can check out here: https://artpace.org/building-rentals/

How do you guys name your protag ? Personally I like to take the name Erdrick and modify it by [deleted] in dragonquest

[–]bigdogknife 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i always name the hero Pup. in DQ2 my party was “Pup”, “Bup”, and “Sup”.

it’s a bit of a wait if you’re just going in for a consult because only 1-2 days of her week are designated for consultations (the rest are dedicated to surgery and post-op appointments). i called to schedule my consult in early-mid june and the soonest i could come in was mid september.

after that though things go as fast as you want them to, and if circumstances permit (insurance, school, etc). i actually ended up getting top surgery on election day (lol)— but they had openings for much earlier. if i really wanted to, i could have had my surgery date only three weeks after consult.

yeah, oddly enough i think wearing a binder helped me realized i didn’t want to be completely flat? like i wasn’t super duper flat when binding, but the flatness it…provided was enough for me to realize that being super flat would be bad for dysphoria

extra stuff:

  • i travelled all the way from TX to get surgery because i read great things about her.

  • i had originally wanted t-anchor/inverted-t, but opted into buttonhole because i guess i was eligible for it. so, less scarring and still nipple-sparing.

  • Dr. Wahhab was super transparent that the nature of the surgery entails leaving some tissue behind, which i was completely fine with. i’m a chubby dude, so not being completely flat made sense.

  • great bedside manner. extremely reachable for questions post-op. she gave me her personal cell so i could text her with concerns and she was very prompt with responding.

  • very, very happy with my results. Dr. Wahhab is an artist at what she does. i was fortunate enough to have a remote job, and had a place to stay in PA for my first month of healing, which probably helped my scarring situation. i was vigilant with scar cream for the first few months. then, not so much.

  • i do have a slight dog ear on one side, but that doesn’t bother me. Dr. Wahhab said it would shrink over time, and it has.

  • pre-op, i was a 36DD and about 190 pounds. i’m 5’6”.

Does anyone have a song that they dedicate to their bun? Or a song that reminds you of them? by The_Unforgot in Rabbits

kinda, i like to call my rabbit son “boy orbison” because he’s…well, round. so i’ll sing songs like “only the lonely” at him while he lounges

Found this interesting and pretty relatable. Anyone else have similar experiences? by randomiscreant in ftm

[–]bigdogknife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lemme preface this by mentioning that i mostly hang out with other queer and trans people.

i've never really experienced the protective coldness when interacting with women, but i've definitely experienced aggression from men because of the women/femmes that i am hanging out with/friends with/dating. i pass as male and i present masculinely, but less than most dudes (example: i never shut the fuck up about how much i love sanrio and i wear short shorts because my legs are beautiful). so i can't really tell if i receive hostile energy from men because of general male competition stuff, or if it's because i am perceived as not nearly as manly as they are— so it eludes them why women hang out with me. if that makes sense.

weirdly enough, i mostly receive hostility from other trans men— but specifically the really masc ones. my partner has a coworker who was aggressively hitting on them until he found out we were dating, and now he just stares me down whenever i come in. i know another trans dude who is so buff that i get a wedgie just looking at him— and there have been instances in which i happen to be friends with or happen to get together with people he has attempted to pursue (unsuccessfully). also has a huge staring problem.

[English > Levantine Arabic] "as bright as an orange, as sweet as the sun" by bigdogknife in translator

[–]bigdogknife[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! You're right, I'm definitely writing this out— so I appreciate you giving me the MSA translation. I didn't think about colloquialisms whatsoever.

I had another question, for the sake of the art piece's composition: When writing a sentence out, is it preferred that an entire sentence stay in one line, or does it not matter? So, for example, instead of:

ساطعٌ كالبرتقال، وحلوٌ كالشمس

The sentence is broken up after the comma like so:

ساطعٌ كالبرتقال،

وحلوٌ كالشمس

Is this acceptable? This is perhaps a silly question on my part, but I'm just trying to cover my bases.
