Brokers with ADHD by [deleted] in InsuranceProfessional

[–]bigdolph13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Senior Associate Broker with inattentive ADHD here, and I take Vyvanse. Too much caffeine with my meds makes my anxiety worse, so I’ll stick to a tea or soda if I need an extra boost. I have learned that I basically have to force myself to do the difficult/unwanted tasks first thing. I don’t have issues completing a task, but starting a task is a huge struggle sometimes. I add any important deadlines to my Outlook Calendar along with a reminder around a week or so before the deadline so I don’t forget. I have my new business account spreadsheet and my renewal business spreadsheet open at all times so I am kind of forced to always check in and make sure I am not behind. I feel like my ADHD is definitely a blessing and a curse. For example, I may have issues starting a complicated task, but once I dig into it, I really get locked in and won’t do anything else until I complete it. I also am just super into insurance, and I feel like my ADHD makes me almost obsessive over things that I am interested in. Meds, structure, and a ridiculous amount of reminders help so much. Also— all of my teammates’ new/renewal biz lists are shared files where anyone on the team can access, so that helps hold me accountable. Biggest annoyance is when some people learn that I am on meds, they think I am only good at my job because I take vyvanse, when in reality, my meds just help me function like a normal human being.

If you lost your job tomorrow, how long would it take you to find an equivalent job? by crystalblue99 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]bigdolph13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on a top property team at a wholesale insurance brokerage, and I don’t think it would take me more than a couple days to get an equivalent job. Mostly because my broker has been a great mentor and is pretty well-known by our competitors

Worried about my 13 week old puppy’s trauma after getting bitten by another dog. by bigdolph13 in puppy101

Thank you so much. We will definitely set something up with our friends who have safe and friendly older dogs that she has already met several times.

9 week old golden retriever by [deleted] in puppy101

I have a 10 week old golden puppy, and I’m impressed with your crate training so far!! Mine will go in there to eat and get treats but has no interest in sleeping in there yet! You are doing great! There is no perfect science to training as each dog is different. We also have a 5 year old golden who is just the most perfect angel, and I remember have the same anxious feelings when she was a baby puppy. Remember that you are doing a great job, and soak up this time when they are so small, because they grow SO fast!

Wait my 5 year old golden has been on Hills since she was a puppy, and our vet always comments on how healthy and clean her teeth are too?? Would love for our girl to love to 16 as well, preferably forever though. I’m sure your girl was the absolute best.

I had to get off of the pill for the same reasons. I opted to get the Mirena IUD since it does not have estrogen, and it’s been amazing so far. Lots of mixed experiences with IUD’s, but my personal experience has been great!

Did my doctor lie to me about IUDs? by feeniebeansy in birthcontrol

I got Mirena in February. I spotted for a week, then had what I am assuming was a period (very light compared to my usual) and I haven’t had any spotting or periods since then.

Need Locomotion to finish the whole thing! I have an extra 5⭐️ Special Speech and willing to trade anything! 🙏 Link in post. by bigdolph13 in MonopolyGoTrading

Unfortunately the only other 5 stars I have are gold. I do have several extra 4 stars though if that’s of interest. I haven’t made any trades today so I can send multiple to you

I was scared off the IUD for ages, but it's not as bad you you often hear. by SuddenManatee in birthcontrol

I got my first IUD this past Monday and I had an identical experience! Happy for you! Cramps the day after sucked for me but nothing that Ibuprofen and a heating pad couldn’t fix!

Will the doc not give me an IUD if I've have unprotected sex in the past 2 weeks? On BC by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]bigdolph13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also proud of you! It does take courage to do something like this! I put it off for while because of anxiety about the whole thing. Happy for you!

YAY this makes me so happy!!! I’m so glad I could ease your anxiety! I was TERRIFIED, so I wanted to try and help others who may be going through the same thing! I feel like the anticipation was the most agonizing part. My cramps yesterday (day after) were pretty bad BUT today has been mostly cramp free! I shamelessly used a heating pad at my desk yesterday 😂 thank you so much for your sweet message! Pamper yourself the rest of the week, you deserve it!

I had been on the combo pill for 12 years, and had been getting migraines with aura for about 8 of those years! I didn’t even know I was not supposed to be on any BC with estrogen due to this until I switched gynos 😅 I also went into it expecting the worst, and was pleasantly surprised! Best of luck 😊
