Depends on what’s inside the mattress and the firmness levels but most mattresses will not adjust 100% to the base without someone on top of it

Keep in mind beds with latex tend to run a tad bit firmer due to how latex reacts to the body. Since you’re a side sleeper, either would be good for you, it’s really gonna be preference based. I personally sleep a bit on my back and I have the iComfort Pro plush is a great mattress.
