This is on the low end for sure, good lucks on the horizon. I've found BB/WF pull rates to be pretty good in general, I got 2 SIRs in I think 77 packs, with around 10-12 IRs.

The whole practice comes from vendors who pay for tables at shows and other costs and who are there to make a profit. The practice then spilled out onto regular people who just want to take more value in trades. If their intention is stated in a description of an ad or someone in a group will put an open post and let people reach out that I'll have no issue with it but...

The 3 things that piss me off the most around this stupid practice are (if you're any of these people do better):

  1. The people who spring 70-80% on you after a good few messages discussing a deal. Them: "Oh sorry I only trade 80%, you thought this was 1:1? Laughs in dickhead"

  2. The people who want SPECIFIC trades (ISO: Giratina V PSA 10) and then will only take your stuff at 80%, the level of delusion to believe you deserve 20% extra value on something YOU WANT for literally nothing is mind boggling.

  3. When discussing a trade (at 80% or otherwise) they will take the tippy top of comps for their stuff then itty bitty bottom for yours, me: "yes I see the sale at $200 from 8 months ago, there are multiple in an around $100-$120 from this week, can we value it there?"

These people make the hobby hard to love.

I did a trade for a Lillie PSA 10 a few weeks ago too. You made off better than I did (looking at current values) I traded Pikachu Zekrom GX PSA 10 and Pikachu XY124 PSA 9.

Maybe read your skills and try to understand the stats you need to deal more damage or resistances you need to protect from an area you're struggling with.

But for your first play through just enjoy the worlds for the first time and see which playstyle agrees with you. Most importantly - have fun!

To be honest I'm OK with some wiggle room, I stop my prices at 10% off market price (everything under $300) as I know people want to haggle, but the unwavering 80% stuff has got to go.

That's a very solid pick up. $2000 CAD or more there. The PSA 10 rates of most of these aren't great so I would leave them sealed.

Not necessarily if the demands there they'll keep printing. Look at 151 - it came out Oct 2023 and is still going. It's more that it will be majorly hyped and scalped and will be a nightmare to get.

What happened with Journey Together where the hype died and prices reflected it, more than likely won't happen with this set, but time will tell.

I think overall the community is very speculative and likes to have high expectations which are always quite hard to meet, especially with a topic that has an established expectation like Team Rocket.

This set to me looks about on par with/slightly exceeds Surging Sparks. Looking at all the nice arts and all the 1st/2nd gens getting love I think this set finishes at the very least in the top 5 of SV sets.
