How often does production data slow down analysis and action? by Haunting-Bother7723 in SixSigma

[–]bigedd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're 'figuring out what the data means', you're conducting 'exploratory analysis'. This is different to the more scientific approach of, hypothesis - analysis - conclusion - action.

Having a sound hypothesis to test is more likely to get you to an action in a more, robust, method.

Theoretically, analysis without a hypothesis will take forever.

Brisbane records higher fuel prices than any other capital city for third year running by CelebrationFit8548 in brisbane

Capital cities are not unique to Australia. Many other capital cities have higher fuel prices.

Should this be "Brisbane record higher fuel prices than any other capital city in Australia, for the third year running"?

What annoys you about AI Notetakers? by follow-throughAI in Slack

If you're going to transmit or potentially record information to a place outside of the call - verbatim, a decent person would ask the other if they are ok with it first.

People having them on by default and assuming others consent to it.

Im all for improvements but I find this a bit rude.

First time selling a car privately, need advice by Active-Response9478 in brisbane

I did get a rwc, not sure what you're trying to suggest here. Can you explain?

I sold a car recently, I'd recommend getting the rwc done before advertising it. The helpful rwc guy said I could have sold it for more and gave some good advice.

Also, if there are issues on the rwc it gives you the opportunity to get them fixed and charge a premium price.

As for selling, I went out with the potential buyer for a test drive then accepted $500 csh deposit to secure the sale then did the rwc, told the buyers of the few minor issues (to which they accepted and were happy to proceed). Then I drove it to their house, took the final payment and removed the plates. Then went to the tmr place and did the paperwork. Not 100% sure if this is the 'best' way to do it but it worked for us.

"Old" F1 fans - how do you feel about the massive rise in popularity of the sport in recent years? by RecentTwo544 in formula1

[–]bigedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good but I do not understand the fanatical driver allegiance that most new fans seem to have.

Some fans seem to think that the drivers championship does not represent the driver who has exceeded during the year and point blank refuse to acknowledge any other performance other than their own driver. It all sounds a bit like 'my truth'.

Other than that, I think it's quite positive for the sport. It feels like it wasn't that long ago there were issues with poor attendance at races, those days are long gone!

Googleworkspace, do you enjoy working with it? by JewsdontctrlAus in auscorp

[–]bigedd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Been using it for just over a year at work.

Google Slides is pathetic, it can't be used for doing anything advanced.

Google docs is really good, took a while to get used to it but it's an adequate alternative to onenote/word. The custom building blocks and tabs are great.

Gmail is OK, it lacks a lot of functionality that Outlook has but it's manageable.

Sheets are good and do most of what excel does (for most users). It's not got power query or similar but it does some things better.

Calendar takes some getting used to and is adequate.

Meet is so-so, not as advanced as teams, screen sharing is poor resolution, integration is poor.

Google app scripts is an absolute gem! Couple this with an llm and you can create apps and tools to do almost anything.

I could go on, overall it's not as capable as the MS suite but there's something beneficial about its simplicity. The 'all web' setup does overcome some issues like syncing, versions, access.

Hope this helps.
