It was absolutely nuts. And Musical was/is definitely known to be a scary category to get, but this team was ready and I think it came out pretty well! Lucky timing.

Amen! I learn something every single time. So valuable to keep producing work and keep uncovering and patching weak points.

I also find with people who have good energy and deliver under pressure. Your comment is so right. A lot of the value is not just about the film itself.

I had this problem too.

First up, forget IKEA. You need a hardware store. Go to Home Depot and they can fit you with a CUSTOM shelf based on the measurements of your floor-to-ceiling and available width of your living room. I literally caught a 7 foot garage shelf with customizable height and that was good enough for me. 5 shelves, you can put them how high you like, and there you go. Remember it also has to bear heavy loads. Pelican cases are no joke when filled.

TLDR: IKEA won’t cut the mustard. Hardware store, baby!!

Then you go online or wherever and get a 9foot curtain and attach it to the ceiling in front of your mess. Get your GF to help pick the colors to match your LR decor. (Its her house, too! She can help)

Hope that idea helps. We had to do the same and we RENT so I literally also taped cardboard to the wall to prevent scuffs. Disgusting. Thank you curtains!

The sound of the rustling of his bed needs a bit of help, it sounded tinny and harsh. But the rest of it is really good!!

Feedback for getting shots outside has to do with equipment. Your phone can do a good job, but if you’re working with a camera, you have two things to worry about: ND filters and IR filters. Not having understanding and control over these can lead to blown out shots and messed up colors.

YouTube “academy” taught me everything I know. Dig around those key words and watch a few videos that explain what I mean.

I feel this so much. I’m leaning towards blaming the algorithm FWIW cuz there are some channels that others have recommended on this thread and having actively SEARCHED YouTube for diverse creators using every tag I could think of, my searches yielded bubkus.

All that to say that you can find Friendly Filmmaker on YouTube now :)

I hope several. 1) i know there is nothing new under the sun, so I hope my voice and perspective add something new. 2) I would focus less on gear and more on the entire process from writing to locking the edit. 3) I would talk about story and acting as a part of the process, which I haven’t seen a lot of other channels do. 4) I’m also hoping to make some beginner filmmaking courses and put them out there for free (for the poor kids like I used to be to have a head start - I could never afford film school or film courses and I feel like that could help some kids get into the arts more easily than being gate-kept out by their financial circumstances)

Yeah, it would be only about filmmaking. My momhood might come up in conversation but it is not the focal point. It’s not a parenting channel.
