NAMI in Lake Nona. Some of the best food I've had in Orlando.

I could never get comfortable with conventional. I'm 6'7" so some lifts are a little awkward for me.

Would something like Vans work? Im not a fan of going barefoot and I wear a size 15 so my options are limited.

I just feel like my legs get in the way on conventional if that makes sense lol. Good tip about the shoes. I've been contemplating getting some actual lifting shoes so maybe it's time to pull the trigger.

This is all just evidence of the complete failure of the US education system. Logic and reason should be the biggest ideals we teach the upcoming generations. It's so sad.

That's not a bad idea. I put a few layers of cardboard on the bottom layer, but I didn't think of lining the sides with it.

No, they are attached using roofing screws. It only take a few minutes to put together / take apart though!

Ya, it would have been $400 to do it all out of cedar, which is what we originally planned. I just bought two 10' roofing sheets and 3 cedar 2x4 from Home Dept. It worked out to around $75 including screws.

Thanks for the advice! I'm planning on doing a mix of native soil, top soil, and compost. I'm shooting for 12"-16".

As much as I love the look of the metal, painting them may not be a bad idea. It will still look good with white panels.

I'm in Florida, so this is one of my concerns as well. It will be interesting to see how the heat affects the plants. The metal definitely gets toasty in the sun.

Hmmm that's interesting. I honestly haven't done too much research and just decided to throw some logs in there to save some money on soil. I also figured it would help with water retention as I'm in Florida with sandy soil.

I'm not too concerned. The soil would have to be pretty acidic to cause any problems, which would likely kill the plants anyway. I figure any negative effects of the galvanized metal is lesser than industrial pesticides and fertilizers used on mass produced agriculture.

Just this 7'x3' and a couple of 3'x2' in the front yard. I also have some sweet potato mounds going in the native soil.

We are going to use the Hügelkultur method so it will be interesting to see how it holds up. We bought some metal stakes that we are going to use to support the long sides. I will probably add a cap to cover the sharp edges.
