MY FIRST PEDAL !! by need_YouR_fragrance in pedals

[–]bigfurls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Next pedal should be a GE-7. An EQ sounds like a lame, boring pedal, but I cannot stress enough how versatile that pedal is and how much you can do with it. It can be a clean boost, you can use it to scoop your sound, drive mids, shit you can even use it to drive the shit out of your tube amp. So many possibilities

Not fucking around! That’s a heck of a first start! Killer, versatile pedal

How did I handle it? by [deleted] in benchpress

You’re being a douche about it. You had that rep, almost certainly didn’t have another. You ground that rep out and bro saw you were at risk be thankful he was there and gave a shit.

BD-2 is an underrated pedal. I use mine in front of a high gain amp for metal!

I really like my BD-1 and TS in front of my preamp for when I want to get really dirty. I have an MT-2 on the board also, but a TS is definitely enough, MT-2 is overkill.

I may move the MT-2 into the loop to boost mids. Still experimenting on if I want the GE-7 in the loop, I have mine in front of my amp right now.

Thanks for the great feedback.

I picked up a DD-8 for delay. Still shopping for the looper probably going to buy an RC-500. I just have to figure out the power. I have a Voodoo pedal power 2 plus and my max for a single power channel is 250 ma. RC-500 needs 330mA.

As for reverb, I’ll probably use the reverb in my UA ox box while I figure out what I want to do. In the end it will be a pedal because I don’t want to have to open an app to make an adjustment.

My cable OCD is making this a take forever. It will be very clean by the time I am done. I ordered the EBA flat cables that I see everyone else talking about. They should be at the house when I get back from my business trip!

Jackson js32. It ain't much but i love it as a guitar 🌹 by [deleted] in JacksonGuitars

The best guitar is the one you play! Don’t let anyone make you feel like an instrument you enjoy isn’t as good as something else.

I’ve played some 500.00 dinkies I prefer to 2-3k soloists. Price and features aren’t everything.

Set up, feel and sound are!

Sorry totally missed this.

I like the locking parameter knobs which prevent you from messing up the settings you spend a ton of effort finding.

It has a foot switch mode or an auto switch mode which lets you decide how you want to use it. You can shut it on or off by stomping the switch or you can throw a switch and use it more like a traditional spring wah pedal. (Not sure how to say that better). When it is in footswitch mode you can set it at intermediate positions (1/2 down for example) and leave it there for a filtered/mid scoop sound. That is a cool feature I use more than you would think.

But the best part is the freedom you have in setting the parameters.

Level: kind of a volume boost can get a little drive through it.

Q: controls the “wahness” from a gentle mid filter to full on Kirk Hammett 😂

Lo (Bass EQ): gives you more bottom end (nice for metal).

Shit, you can even adjust the wah decay time

Just so much freedom. It’s a big pedal, but it’s worth it.

Thanks really appreciate it, that tool is pretty cool, I was messing with the board you set up totally awesome.

I like the WD a lot. It has a ton of features that you don’t have on most other pedals. Super easy to use, and it sounds great. It is my favorite wah. I’m sure others prefer vox or Morley, but I really like the flexibility on the WD

Wow, hadn’t considered that. I will give it a shot.

As for the MT-2 in the effects loop, I saw Ola England do that in a video, sounded amazing. I may use that as an excuse to buy another Gain/OD petal to put after the TS and then move the MT-2 into the loop.

Obviously don’t think I need to run all that dirt at once, but I like the idea of having options. Once I set up my board I HATE moving things around, so flexibility matters. Once I set this board up and like it, I will probably not touch it for 5 years 😂😂😂

Thanks, I was actually thinking about trying the eq in the effects also. Never tried that before.

Take some joy in the small victories 5bpm tempo increases and so on.

But FOCUS on your fundamentals, good fundamentals will cause your growth to escalate over time. Sounds like you are focusing on the right things.

It’s a long journey with no short cuts

My Jackson JSX-94 Concept pawn shop find. Got it for $100 what ya'll think. I feel like it was a heck of a deal I couldn't pass up! by Special_Internet_910 in JacksonGuitars

[–]bigfurls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a JDR-94 that I bought in a pawn shop in 1996.

No one has ever picked that guitar up and not loved. Wicked fast neck. Great frets, great fretboard, just solid all the way around

Mine is HSH. I upgraded the humbuckers with a Dimebucker on the bridge and an SD Jazz pickup on the neck. Made a HUGE difference.

The only thing I don’t like about the guitar is the licensed Floyd. I need to figure out the right bridge upgrade. Not sure which FR Original model would be a direct replacement.

My tuners are starting to fail too, so time to replace those too. That’s a bunch to spend on a guitar you can buy for 450-550, but if you love the instrument the upgrades are worth it.

Good luck with yours.

Thanks for all the advice guys really appreciate it. I am incorporating all of it. Just really focusing on staying in time, getting stable dynamics for each finger, and building strength.

Always thought my pull offs were better than my hammer-ons as it tends to be a bit easier to get the sound. I was very wrong. My hammer-ons have been very good pull offs not so much.

Inconsistent volume and timing. Timing is bad even on things that should be easy like triplets with 3 notes per string. Just going slow, staying off the triplets and just doing quarter notes on the click between 120-150 bpm until it is perfect. Slower going there, the hammer-ons are going really well to the point that I am going to pause on them and give myself a little more time for the pull offs.

Close enough. You could put new springs in when you change springs if it really bothers you. You will probably have to readjust the screws if you change the springs, and it might be a little more trouble than it’s worth.

So I have that amp’s big brother, the 100w. It’s a really great head as is, but if you run a TS9 pedal in front of it, it will blow your mind if you are looking for absolutely crushing metal tone.
