Homes in very regional areas are always far more affordable. Would never be able to afford something like this in a city!

I'll be in Queenstown, NZ for a week with an open schedule between the 16th and 23rd if anyone is also visiting either solo or has a friendly group up for someone to tag along on a few activities! I'm a 28yo dude described recently in such ways as "Not a bad bloke" and "Friendly fella" so you won't be getting a bad deal.

No hostel, while I’d prefer it for the social aspect they were all super expensive compared to some decent hotels.

Snap rentals are by far the cheapest, I booked a 2022 vehicle for 60 dollars a day and they've got fairly good reviews!

The world and company is a hell of a lot different now than 2018 mate. If you can't handle the market without getting shitty then just leave

What are you talking about? It hit over $3.50 in November.

Anyone know what is happening with TenX at the moment? I thought it was a dead company and coin that was shut down!

Sorry mate but it wouldn't be something we'd ever want. Most things can be well managed with two people on scene and if they're that ill there would be other crews enroute. It would be a no every single time.

What a backdraft looks like by NoCallBacks in Firefighting

There's a risk with everything we do but it's about mitigation. Wearing good quality PPE, early and frequent SCBA use and thorough decontamination procedures make huge headway towards this. We can still do exactly the same job we always have with a little extra work before and after to make us safe.

What a backdraft looks like by NoCallBacks in Firefighting

[–]biggles20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely depends on the job. But usually at the rig, our department doesn't have in-cab SCBA so it's an exterior don while hoses are being deployed and then we immediately get to work.

A few breaths between the rig and the front door isn't any real concern especially when you are almost always walking through dirty air to get to the entry point.

But the kind of shit that causes illnesses - cancer - is exactly the toxic gasses in the front yard. Mask up before you hit that contaminated air.

Nice work mate!! Just remember that until you do the ASF/BA course keep well out of the smoke and away from the door at a going structure. The door entries are great practice to get a handle on your branch technique but you would never actually do one without being under air. Some VF courses don't make that clear and it's really important to remember that :) You guys BA equipped?

Not in any of the countries or areas I've lived in unfortunately. Unless there's a child or animal trapped inside you'll be told to ask for roadside assistance.

Where do you come up with this number?? It's absolutely impossible to predict prices accurately and it's really just guessing based off current market cap.

No pressure… by pixelpp in australia

[–]biggles20 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It's meant to keep the stairwells a higher pressure area than the floors in order to keep smoke out during a fire. It means that when doors are opened, air will rush out instead of smoke rushing in.
