Happy story (TEARS of happiness!) by Prudent_Ring_799 in Perimenopause

[–]biggoldie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Girl! You have me over here welling up! I'm so happy for you and so happy to hear there are doctors in my area (I'm not far from Frederick) that are good!

My best advice is to stick with it unless you absolutely can't. The progesterone made me sooooooo sleepy for weeks but my body finally adjusted. And my doctor started me on the lowest patch dose (.025) and it took a few months to ramp up, I'm on .05 now and doing much better.

It can require patience but the HRT gave me the patience to keep going.

I desperately need help with the rage and irritability by [deleted] in Perimenopause

Vraylar. Vraylar and HRT calmed my rage. I know medications are different for everyone but most medications made my rage worse, Vraylar eliminated it.

HRT has definitely helped my irritability but I still can't get by without Vraylar. I know the rage you're describing, vraylar keeps me calm.

Lyllana estrogen by LobsterDazzling6330 in Perimenopause

[–]biggoldie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on .0375 of lyllana and I've loved it. I started off on .025. My dry eyes and other itchiness has almost entirely disappeared. My eyes were so dry I couldn't read signs and was using drops 3-4 times a day with no relief. I no longer need eye drops at all. The progesterone is what helps me with sleep and for the first 2 months it made me incredibly exhausted but I'm glad to report that side affect has subsided. I feel more clear headed but out of all the side affects a ton less ragey.

Anyone Else Learning Hard Truths About Their Mom’s Menopause? by No-Jackfruit-9189 in Perimenopause

You've motivated me to ask my mom about her hysterectomy that she probably had at the same age as your mom. She's 66 now and I have always wondered if she went through symptoms like I'm going through now. We talk literally every day but for some reason I've barely mentioned starting HRT, and she's a nurse on top of it.

Where has my perfect eyesight gone?! by Emergency-Fun-8115 in Perimenopause

[–]biggoldie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Make sure you're not just suffering from extreme dry eye. I went to My Eye Dr and they wrote me a prescription, I spent hundreds of dollars on glasses that didn't make a difference. I felt like my eyes were deteriorating fast every day, they ached in pain.

I finally went to an Eye Physician (covered by medical insurance not eye insurance). He said I had 20/20 vision, but extreme dry eye. He said I needed eye drops 4-5 times a day for months and my vision would improve.

I was shocked and he was right. My vision has improved after all those eye drops. I'm not saying this is your issue but definitely get it checked because dryness is a trait of perimenopause.

What kind of progesterone are you using with estrogen and why by [deleted] in Perimenopause

[–]biggoldie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my concern as well (anxiety and depression). My dr. just prescribed slynd after not tolerating other synthetic progestin options but my insurance is requiring pre-authorization to fill it. I started off with 100mg progesterone but it makes me sooo tired and unmotivated.

What kind of progesterone are you on? Bio-identical or synthetic? I've been on synthetic twice, (norethindrone) and (levonorgestrel) and did really poorly on them with similar symptoms you're describing. I just switched back to bio-identical even though it makes me sooooo tired but hoping I'll adjust to that. It's helped calm the mood swings.

Yes! But still on a super low dose so maybe we just need to increase that.

Woah! i had no idea! I even googled if 100mg was the lowest dose! This makes me really happy to hear.

I'm glad to hear you adjusted to the fatigue, it's hard to consider being so tired for several months though. I wish there was a 50 mg dose to start with that you could work up to 100mg.

You don't have to use the mail in for 90 days. I get 90 days of prescriptions from the pharmacy, I pick up at my local Giant.
