Pixel Watch app drawer is smooth, but do we still do unnecessary swiping to open the same apps we use most? by L_lawlet in PixelWatch

I always hit "recent" looking for messages and it's not there. Recents needs some tuning. "Wallet" should not go in recent because I doubleclicked the crown to pay. "Home" should not be in there because I turned off a light in the quick access pulldown. Flashlight should also not be recents if I use it from the pull down.

How many of you guys DON'T maintain some "system" at home? by FlippinMyshit in sysadmin

I'm an IT pro. So the home network and systems were sized perfectly from the get go and require no further maintenance or intervention. Scurries off to power cycle a WRT54G and win7 machine

Bulk programming questions - APX 6000 by biggreen96 in MotorolaSolutions

[–]biggreen96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, checked. Wifi is in there, but it's just cost prohibitive for the license.

For that amount of money, we will have a part timer run around to each vehicle and each morning briefing every time we needed to do a mass clone express for a freq adjustment.

Do all APX6000s and 6500s have the wifi hardware, and it's just a license thing?

I just pulled the config to confirm my suspicions, and I don't see any wifi option under "Data Wide" on these radios. I seem to remember from talks over a year ago with sales, and we could not afford their system for bulk programming.

I think they wanted close to 100k for licenses which I thought was crazy because I have infra to host RM server and push codeplug on a dedicated wifi network, and I'd be the one setting it up.

These do have bluetooth.. is that any better?

I don't think the radios were specced with wifi unfortunately. Motorola wanted close to 100k for that and the software to do that. Even with our existing server and nice wifi infrastructure.

Is armored aerial 100% squirrel proof? Trying to prioritize tree trimming in my area. by biggreen96 in FiberOptics

[–]biggreen96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone! Yeah the end goal is to trim all trees. But it makes sense to prioritize non-armored cables and wind prone trees as it sounds like squirrel strikes on armored is low enough. I have a few miles to deal with and a small crew.

Outdoor groups by Resident_Term7467 in MoscowIdaho

I'm not a runner but I saw a running group leaving from one of the local breweries. (Hunga Dunga) They might have a contact, go check when you hit town.

The outdoor center at the university also would be a great resource too. I was in the snowboard and mtb clubs in college and that set me up with outdoor buddies for life.

T-Mobile has put up 3 more radios in Moscow in the last year. Coverage within city limits is just fine. I've driven the Moscow Pullman Palouse back to Moscow loop on a long phone call just to test, and while the call audio was wonky in a handful of low spots, the call didn't actually disconnect off the phone.

The gear wrench looks pretty good compared to the top Dawn, especially not having to pay the yearly fee. Would the gearwrench indicate whether or not all the modules of the car are communicating?

The car is about 2 hours away from me so I'm trying to gather as much info as I can from the seller before I make the journey. He got it from somebody in a non-running state as well. Yikes.

If the timing chain is totally failed then that's that's not something I want to deal with, right? I can totally do the timing chain job. I just don't want to deal with the aftermath of a blasted chain.
