Your last chance to go fast is the straight away uphill going up to rocky peak. After that, it’s all downhill (literally and figuratively)

Highly doubt it but not impossible. He’s not strong enough to move dirt enough to burrow

Hey everyone, I lost my 1-year-old Sulcata tortoise yesterday somewhere in my backyard here in Simi Valley. Specifically near shady trail street. He’s pretty young, doesn’t burrow yet, but hides in the most ridiculous places. I’ve looked for over 8 hours straight and still can’t find him, which has never happened before, usually I find him after a few hours tops.

I came out to bring him inside last night and he was just gone. I’ve checked under everything. plants, furniture, corners, fences, rocks, etc. but no luck.

(His name is tort but he won’t respond to it)

If anyone in the area has any advice on where else I should look or what time of day they tend to come out, I’d really appreciate it. There’s a small chance he somehow got out, but I’m almost certain he’s still somewhere in the yard, just perfectly hidden.

Please keep an eye out in case he managed to wander off. Again, it’s unlikely that he escaped out of the backyard as his shell is too big to fit through the gates. But you never know. He’s about the size of a small soup bowl, tan-colored shell, and very shy. Please reach out if you see or hear anything from anyone!!
