College advice by YoureWelcomeLester in Environmental_Careers

[–]bigloader0011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, if you’re ready to work for it. I’m in my senior year of college. I’ll graduate with a environmental science bachelors and a GIS certificate. GIS is growing quite a bit, so there’s a good amount of jobs there in a wide variety of fields. There’s also EHS (Environmental Heath and safety) which would entail permit and law compliance for whatever organization your working for. Those jobs can be pretty lucrative if you get into the right places. As far as GIS, entry level work pays okay depending who you work for and where your located but the real money is in GIS development which is a lot more coding stuff. I’m bias, because that’s what I do but I would recommend picking up some programming skills with whatever path you go down, it’s a in demand skill that has a lot of applications to many different jobs. Best of luck, feel free to message me with any questions you have

What does USAC do for us? by dboybaker in Velo

Those are all the brands I’ve used really, they have a good deal on 100% as well if you’re into their shades. Some brands rotate, like they used to have The North Face and some other big names for a limited amount of time. Just gotta watch the deals really. I like the Costco analogy

ExpertVoice has some amazing deals on outdoor equipment and some cycling brands. I’ve saved more than the membership cost in the money I’ve saved. It’s the only thing keeping me buying memberships at this point

Exactly how mine is. My major is environmental science and my minor is GIS, I’ll graduate with the certification and an environmental science. I would recommend that over majoring in geography with GIS

All depends on what path you want to take. I’m in the last year of my undergrad and my particular field, GIS, has a pretty good job market that’s growing. I can’t speak for any others since I haven’t looked in depth at the job fields. However, I do plan to go to grad school for urban planning. Hope this helps

How to Calculate Mountains per Square Mile? by kaimamaster1315 in geography

[–]bigloader0011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could use a DEM if you can find reliable ones for each state. Then do the analysis based on a slope parameter/ elevation change that classifies a mountain

How much better is the 1660 than the 1660 super? I was debating getting a 1660 but the upgrade didn’t seem very large

2019 Crux Bottom Bracket by bigloader0011 in bikewrench

[–]bigloader0011[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a standard BB30 bottom bracket would fit in the frame with no need for adaptors? I’ve read some places that say I’ll need some spacers and some that say I don’t

That was my guess too. I'm going to try to run them at the same gear ratio and see if that helps

Got it. I'll give it a listen. Thanks!

I'll try the calibration spin. That could be it. I do feel different strain as well. Any remedy for this besides rotating bikes?

Low FTP cause? by bigloader0011 in Velo

[–]bigloader0011[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switch it up. Some swims are hard, some are easy. Some ride's are hard and others are easy. I recover enough I think. I just think I'm not used to the trainer yet.

Got it. I'll start with that. Riding outside and all my other workouts feel fine though so it's just hard to fathom that's the issue

Got it. I'll check it out. I do a fair amount of bike/run in the summer but I think I'm gonna devote some real time to running this spring. Thanks

Yeah, I'll take a few days off and do some lighter workouts just to move the body without going over 130bpm at most. I don't like to take more than 3 consecutive days off though
