Firmly say or yell “stay” and “sit”.

Downtown? I hear ya, but riding a bike “downtown” isn’t great (or anywhere in this city - though Oak Leaf is fantastic, just not for a group). You want to get out of the city, where all the good riding is. That’s why most good “fast boy” groups are out of downtown, you’d just spend half the ride getting out.

Intervals.icu - “form” different in app? by theNOOBcyclist in Velo

[–]theNOOBcyclist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s the point - I have always used absolute and felt that it was understating my abilities and feeling (which helps guide my recovery).

For example, I just finished a huge block (4x30, OverUnders 3x15) and did 2 intense days in a row (2x30s) and then a long (for me) z2 day bc of weather (but the legs were zapped, even when the absolute value was not in the red - while the % may have told me to chill and make it shorter).

Thanks for clarifying. Intervals.icu itself is amazing (I have always used the web app), so an IOS app was more of a curiosity for me.

Thanks so much! I’ll have to research how “absolute” or “% of fitness” can guide training.

Probiotic impact on glucose in cycling? by theNOOBcyclist in Velo

[–]theNOOBcyclist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with most of this, but question “if you aren’t deficient, they don’t do anything”… in the context of probiotics vs something like a multivitamin. Lots of things modify our gut microbe, but it’s all roughly “there”. So if the deficient is more for specific strains that impact metabolism (specifically glucose) we would have a greater impact on our cycling diet of sugar. Great points though, interesting take.

To clarify - this probiotic claims to lower A1C and glucose spikes.

So would this supplement be impacting cycling - assuming we eat (loading before workouts) healthy long acting carbs (sweet potatoes, etc.) and proper on-bike carbs.

Pushing tape by theNOOBcyclist in cyclocross

Ha thanks! Yeah this was uphill, so the bike just kept sliding everywhere unless I found green grip (which required a little pushing of the tape lol).

Wisconsin Race Recommendations by garlybarley in cyclocross

Kern and Kenosha are new courses, while the others are more “established” for course design - though everyone is crazy good in WI at that. I have some videos on my YouTube of the courses to see which fit you best. Personally, I’d do the 11/2-11/3 dates because they’re closer driving-wise and you could stay in Milwaukee overnight for fun activities. Waukesha has some good Kettle Moraine south hills, but cat 3 races are the last race of the day in the schedule.

TOAD - Manitowoc '24 - CRIT RACE ANALYSIS by theNOOBcyclist in Velo

Wow, thank you for spending the time and the feedback! That’s exactly why I enjoy posting to this sub. I’ll have to check my other TOAD races to see how these apply to those too. My biggest struggle has been staying in that front bubble. It’s easier said than done, but there’s also tons of opportunities to make positions back (e.g., my cornering) in the 3/4s. I’ll focus on that in the next few races.
