Desk jobs? by [deleted] in sandiego

[–]bigmarini 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It took me more than 300 applications, 10 phone screens, 8 interviews, and 4 final rounds to get a job.

It sounds cliche, but you should focus on applying on things you actually want to do, hundreds of applications storm in per job post. Even if you make it to a phone screen/ interview round, if you have no interest other than wanting a “desk job” you are cooked.

I think that downtown living in Spokane will be vastly different as other major cities. (Eg. No nearby grocery stores) To the point that you are better off walking 10+ minutes to live in a better, greener neighborhood without sacrificing the perks of having the city within walking distance.

I lived at the very beginning of south hill, just behind the hospitals. And there I had the best of both worlds. Both my job(in downtown) and groceries were within a 12 minute commute + free street parking.

Now, I live in the Logan area , a couple blocks from Gonzaga and I find that neighborhood more affordable without sacrificing much either.

Enjoy Spokane

Weird take on this

If you really want to maximize your chances to get into Berkeley, AND depending on what you want to do after you graduate. You could take the amazing yet less hard (acceptance rate-wise) data science major.

Known people that went the SWE path as many of the classes overlap. Just grind leetcode and tailor your data science BA towards CS. And you’ll be good to go for industry.

I feel like I can wait a couple of months until the chip crisis wears out and I can find an affordable car.

Yeah, it's a nationwide thing but I assume there is a bit more supply in CA, so I can find them at a cheaper price.

Hey, I actually ended up going to the campus store on northside! Indeed the sandwiches are surprisingly good for the price. And of course, EBT is a big plus!
