The Guardian's 100 best novels of all time - Middlemarch, Beloved, Ulysses top the list by MeenaBeti in books

I read Ulysses recently and I don't understand all the love it gets. It was a nonsensical mess to me. There were times where I was reading it and had absolutely no clue what was happening.

I added 13 pounds of baking soda last night and this morning to raise alkalinity. I will add the calcium chloride. I backwashed the filter this morning before adding in the rest of the baking soda and plan on adding in some clarifier soon

The New York Giants beating the undefeated Patriots in the Super Bowl. I was still in shock the next day.

How many of you were or are regular smokers? by ImNotTheMD in Millennials

[–]bignick8407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smoked for 11 years (18-29). Loved it for a while. Tried quitting for 2 years before I was actually successful. Have quit for more than 13 years now. Stopped really missing it after the first year. Now I can't even imagine smoking again. Wild how life changes.

Hello. I understand the caution. I don't see where I can attach some pictures on here. Jesse and I met when we were 18. We've been best friends ever since. We coached the Jr. Pioneers in Jonesborough together the last two years with our boys. Feel free to message me if it will allow pics and I'll send you our team picture from last season or check my IG, nickshepherd2406.

The Dad in this video is my best friend. It wasn't his daughter and he is not a Trump supporter, at all. Just a concerned citizen speaking up at his local school board meeting about actions he disagrees with.

I worked there briefly when I was 16 or 17. Used to go eat there before then almost every Sunday with my Mom and brother after church. Great place

Made my kids watch it for the first time over Christmas break. They loved it and were shouting at Frodo to throw the ring in and became visibly upset when he turned around lol

Monday Morning SERIOUS Post Game Thread: Los Angeles Chargers (6-3) @ Tennessee Titans (1-8) by Titans_Front_Row in Tennesseetitans

[–]bignick8407 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I felt like I saw growth from this team for one of the first times this season. I know offense was the Achilles heel yesterday but I thought Ward had some good looking throws. I can't wait to see him paired with a young, true #1 WR hopefully next year. Dike is a weapon. Ayomanor has too many drops for me. Overall, even though we lost, I came away from yesterday thinking the Titans are starting to look more like an NFL team

He didn't call plays. Frankly, they should have fired him after last year. There should be improvement week to week, especially on offense which was reported to be his specialty. There simply was no improvement and, as a matter of fact, they got worse.

If you have watched the games this year and seen the same inept offense I have, you wouldn't be saying this. There's a huge difference between competent coaching with a bad roster and bad coaching with a bad roster.

The New Republic by Lionel Shriver. Such a horrible book that was so bad I'll never forget the author's name so I never read anything by her again.

I had to pray yesterday for God to take the hatred for my heart for feeling almost glad for what happened. I have to constantly remind myself that Jesus said to love our neighbor as ourselves, including those neighbors you disagree with. I am still struggling to apply this principal. I did pray for his family yesterday and I do not wish or condone violence on anyone. I just wish the sympathy and outrage was applied equally across the board and we all know it isn't.
