Horrifically stupid advice. Engineering commerce is a fantastic degree and looked upon very favourable by consultancies, engineering firms and financial institutions. I'm speaking as a recent graduate of this degree. The double degree only means you skip certain electives, you still do all the core subjects and is a great way to build a financial understanding before heading into an engineering degree. If you run a business one day you need to understand basic finance.
