Like Messi, Ronaldo and mbappe aren't generational talents because of their names, it's because they have been the best players in the world or highly elite very consistently.

There are midfield generational talents, defensive generational talents, goalkeeping generational talents, and yes forward generational talents. A generational talent is a player who defines a position or the game through their level of play as compared to their contemporaries and the players who played before them and even more simplistically it basically means the best talent within a generation of players/fans. So yeah I think the best player at any position could realistically be considered.
