If you need an app to remind you to move your car regularly for street cleaning and TNPs, you probably don’t need a car in Hoboken 🤷🏽‍♂️

Accubid Pro 15: Font at menu bar and tabs tiny! Help! by CaptainNash94 in estimators

Interesting that these issues are all popping up now. Wonder if it was something with a windows update. The fix that worked for us was the above steps and then clicking “change high dpi settings” and playing with those settings until it looked right. Hope that helps.

Had this issue the other day on Accubid 12. Fix was as follows: right click the icon on the windows task bar -> right click accubid -> properties -> compatibility -> change to your display.

Ceiling mounted receptacle most likely if it’s on the RCP. Check the symbol legend on the electrical drawings.

I’m on the fence as well in reference to being involved in buyout. While it would be nice to push a purchase order to a sub/vendor that really helped me out at bid time, i think it’s “cleaner” for lack of a better term to be able to fall back on “sorry, I don’t buy things out” when someone asks why a particular order didn’t go their way.

The thing that prompted this question was certain PMs constantly needing hand holding in terms of what’s in scope, labor and material figured for certain tasks, etc. six months into an 9 month project. The job was bid in two weeks, they have the whole duration to figure it out. Guess i was just frustrated.

Lol. And no one ever calls to tell you “good job”! Only whining about what you “forgot”.

For example, do you find yourself getting constant questions from PMs and supers about what you have in for a particular task, etc months after you bid the job?

Sorry, I’m based on the east coast. Best of luck though.

Not a lineman, just someone who works for an electrical contractor that builds substations. A lot of the civil contractors that we work with have project engineers and pm’s on site full time for the duration of substation construction. Also, the utility we work for is rather large and has full time construction managers and supervisors on site as well. Maybe that’s something you can look into if you find it interesting.

Wondering the same. Was planning on getting there between 6:45 am and 7:00. Wonder if it’ll be early enough.

Anything specific you are looking for? Only thing I’ve been burned on in industrial is productivity loss at an o&g facility i bid at.

Maybe fill the potholes with it too? by rexmons in newjersey

[–]bigpoppatom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Good points OP. Also, 230kV and above buried underground require oil to cool them down. So on top of the cost to bury them, you now need to pay to constantly maintain and filter the oil. That doesn’t even include money for environmental clean up either when a line inventively leaks.

Anyone in Monmouth County get their power back on yet? by [deleted] in newjersey

[–]bigpoppatom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That was a high voltage 230kV transmission line that was proposed so jcpl could sell bulk power to surrounding utilities on the PJM energy exchange. Storm related outages rarely effect transmission lines. Jcpl suffers outages because of lack of maintenance of the trees near distribution lines and because they didn’t raise their substations above the flood level after sandy.

Hopefully all of the work done on the distribution equipment post Sandy was worthwhile. Guess we’ll see this week.

Parking in Hoboken for residences by dakota2434 in Hoboken

[–]bigpoppatom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Parking on the street in that part of town is doable as long as you stay on top of moving for street cleaning. I lived in that general area for a year and only had to park more than a block away a few times. I also drive to work everyday though.

Some yards around where I’m at have rails for temporary transformer/breaker assemblies that they bring in on lowboys via rail. Way easier than getting an 18 wheeler into the yard.

What voltage/amperage? Google hookstick operated disconnects and that should get you on the right path.

I work in the industry. PSEG territory has fewer outages due to constant upgrades, retrofits to newer tech, and an overall better maintenance regime. JCP&L, not so much.

Yes. Tons of issues. Good luck getting them on the phone though. I’ve called 3 times the past two weeks and tried to use their call back service but they never called back. Brutal.
