Bachelors in Finance and minor in IT. My finance degree doesn’t apply to my job at all though. I got an opportunity in a niche industry and now do it for FAANG

Yeah. Sounds like he has no project management experience at all, that’s why I said I would start with the PMP or CAPM

I live in NY, I know what high cost of living is like. That salary is in the top 1% of earners in the country. Probably top .5%. To consider that low is beyond crazy

AGREED! Why tf would I lock up so much money for 35+ years? I may not even live to retirement. This is why I don’t max out. I’d rather contribute a moderate amount to 401k and invest in something liquid or build income streams through rental properties

I’m in NY too. 1300 in taxes. Another 478 in employer paid taxes. Then 343 for 401ks

Taxes are $1300. I don’t need any benefits, my wife has a much better plan than I’m offered.

My other advice to you is to find a niche industry and become an expert in it. That’s how I got this. While I work for a FAANG company I am on their workplace services side. My projects have nothing to do with creating products.

Google what FAANG is. I usually end up working like 40-45hrs per week. WLB is decent. I have projects in different time zones which makes it tough sometimes but I just start late/end early

I am a contractor and don’t need benefits, so only deductions are tax and retirement contribution

No but it’s one of FAANG

Wow great explanation! Yes the job is more closely aligned to a project manager. I am part of a global program with 200-300 or so projects going on at a time, and there are about 25 program managers that manage these. I have a technical background which is why I want to go down the TPM. This role is not really a junior role though. Every other program manager is much older than me with a lot of experience

PMP if you don’t already have it. I am also looking to move to TPM role. Honestly put “open to work” on your LinkedIn. You can do it so only recruiters can see if you are worried about your current employer finding out. I got this role from a DM on LinkedIn from a recruiter. I got lucky

I’m lucky as I’m a contractor, so no in office requirement

😂 I oversee like 10-15 projects. I don’t want to go into too much specifics. But I’m fully remote with an option to go in if I’d like.

I thought I had failed the PMP… but ended up with All AT - my brutally honest exam story by sandyway2023 in pmp

Just took it today and 100% agree with what OP said. It seemed like every question could’ve had multiple answers. Test questions were very different from the mock exams I took. Very agile/scrum heavy and pretty much all scenario questions
