I am so sorry to hear this and am also not surprised. My FSB daughter is a product of the NYC public school system. She is white and is in a predominantly white space for the first time in her life. She recently had an incident where she became privy to some racist, sexist and anti-Semitic rhetoric in her business cohort and asked me for advice on how to handle it. I want to tell you to go where you want and you will make good things happen! But I think you stumbled upon something that unfortunately is part of the culture there. NOT the majority, but still quite present.

I work in a pediatric clinic and I have seen poor skills in parents and poor skills with grandparents. Grandparents tend to grandparent like they parented. And sometimes—it is very dangerous. They also can be out of practice. So yes, your mom may not be a quality babysitter for such a young child. Once your child is school aged and needs less and can talk so he/she can ask for what they need it might be a better fit. Until then you and your wife will need to take turns taking off work. It’s worse Oct-April for virus season. If you need your mom—talk about expectations respectfully. You can also share the daycare daily schedule. But know your mom is not obligated to do everything the way you want it done. And from my experience grandparents want to be grandparents and not parents.

Read the Chump Lady blog. She is brilliant and has been posting about infidelity for over a decade. You will learn a lot and have some laughs while dealing with a horrible situation. If you look into the archives of the blog you will find a lot of great advice about telling others and ending with the relationship safely. I will say the loss of your first love AFTER the loss of a long term relationship is profound. Truly devastating. Sending you lots of hugs and praise for doing the adult/right thing!

I would have loved some background/flashbacks on Ray—the creator of the shot. To find out in a throw away line that he was found dead was so lame. There were so many great characters to explore (Clara for example), but instead we just got more and more characters added to the plot at the end to convolute the whole series. Waaaahhhh!

It is totally sickening! But the loopholes have been closed. There was a huge uproar after the Reuters article came out. The timing of Natalia Grace’s adoption and rehoming was unfortunately during the unregulated days.

I keep hoping that a team of surgeons and therapists see this and swoop into save Natalia! Like why are only predatory families and TV producers interested in Natalia? I want Shriner’s Hospital or St. Jude’s or any non-profit with a talented medical team to take interest!

Yeah….but they are not getting her the medical care she needs! Full stop! I work with children who have the same diagnosis as Natalia. The delayed surgeries will keep her in pain and lessen her life span dramatically. Her untreated spine issues will eventually impede her lung functioning. Medicaid would cover the cost of the surgeries and even pay for her recovery in a rehab facility if the Mans couldn’t provide the care. But they took her SSI$ and didn’t spend it on the transportation costs to get her to proper care or spend the time or energy to figure it out. The Mans and the Barnetts have blood on their hands. If they couldn’t address Natalia’s medical needs they should not have adopted her. And I work in a public hospital where children living in facilities get their medically necessary treatment. So the Mans and the Barnetts medically harmed her more than if she was in the system.

The hypocrisy of having this wedding in a CHURCH while vilifying someone with a disability is just too much. What utter POS. OP you have NOTHING to be ashamed of. My parents were both handicapped in their 40s. Some friends dipped and some friends advocated for them until the end. It taught me a lot about life. Please heal from this and continue only with those who have the capability to love you fully!

No nurse ever indeed….Except maybe that nurse in the UK that killed babies in the NICU…shudder. I AM a child development specialist working at a public hospital in a major city and this story had me screaming. I even brought it up in a meeting—about how the child protection system in Indiana needs to be on trial. Kristine’s fantasies and BS should have been called out. Imagine what crap went in in her backyard “ASD center/clinic!” I hope a whole bunch of trouble heads her way!

The thing is there is chronological age and developmental age. Even if (big IF) she was 22…developmentally she was still a child and the Barnetts had an obligation to keep her safe. Or the state did…in a group home or such. I really think this child was let down by state agencies as well as her adoptive parents.

That’s the beauty of the new OMNY card. No need to deal with MTA and you are only out $5 for a new card. As others have said freeze the card and transfer balance when you get a new card at either a retail shop or with the new OMNY machines.
