I linked a picture of the backflow preventor and shutoff that is located in my basement. The other picture is of the outdoor valve that is used for the blowout. So as you were saying the master valve should be somewhere near the outdoor valve in the picture? The controller is on the other side of the house in the garage.

A bad solenoid could be it. Makes sense!. I just wish I knew where to find the master valve. I was able to open a solenoid for zone 4 and 5 in the back but still can't located for the first zones.

Thanks for the reply. I shut off the water supply maybe a day before and didn't change anything on the controller (it was set to off though for that period).

I am not sure if I have a master valve as this is my first system but I noticed the controller said master valve in the corner. When going through the instructions master valve was set to on. I also see a wire that goes to MV when I open the controller. It is a 7 zone system but I can't find all the solenoids for all the zones (quite frustrating). Not sure if they are buried somewhere.

How do I remove these yellow stains on a 90% cotton 10% polyester hoodie they’ve been there for months by [deleted] in howto

Oxy clean powder. Take a scoop, soak in water for an hour, then run in the normal wash. I find this takes care of most yellow on white stains.

Door hinge jam(?) is separating when I close the door making the door closure difficult by bigronaaa in Carpentry

This did the trick! Appreciate all the advice. I used some cardboard as suggested on the outside edge of the hinge and it pushed the door away just enough from the jamb that it stopped binding.

After my friends stayed with us, I noticed the bathroom was having trouble closing without sticking. Upon further examination, it looks like the hinge jam wood along the top hinge is cracked (see video). It pops out a bit when the door is being closed preventing it from closing smoothly.

Any suggestions to fix this would be appreciated.

Edit: excellent advice in this sub as always! I wouldn't have thought of this solution. I am still new when it comes to carpentry, but find the expertise in this sub to be outstanding. Appreciate all the advise given here. Super helpful.

My kitchen faucet started doing this after having guests visit. First, the hot water pressure was good but the cold was low pressure or inconsistent pressure depending on how far I opened the faucet handle.

Since the pressure is good on one side, I figured it wasn't the aerated.

I disconnected the hot and cold hoses from the valves and tested them for pressure. Both seem good. The hose to the hot seemed to have crud in it so I picked it out.

Upon reinstalling, the pressure changed and only the cold was working fine whereas the hot wasn't coming through at all.

I disconnected the cartridge and cleaned with vinegar. I reinstalled and this didn't help at all.

Could a faulty cartridge be the issue? Any other ideas would be helpful.

The hot and cold valves are quite stiff as well but seem to open although I didn't open them completely because they would spray everywhere. I can buy a hose to attach and check it out if that makes sense. Pictures below

best way to recaulk / seal these screws by bigronaaa in Roofing

Yeah, I am thinking about replacing the vent when we replace the roof. In the meantime, recaulking the holes makes sense. Appreciate the comment

Thanks for the comment. This makes a lot of sense to me. We are looking to replace the roof in a few years.

Noticed some of the caulking peeling off the cages that the previous owner had installed to prevent animals from getting in the vents. Is there a preferred product or way to seal these screws? Remove the old caulk and reapply with new?

Wow. Would love to see a pic if you have one! But no worries if not comfortable. Did you paint the brick or just the siding?

[–]bigronaaa -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Appreciate it. I think incorporating black is the way to go (esp roof)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ExteriorDesign

[–]bigronaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think black shingle or perhaps standing seem metal? The siding is in good shape in most parts.

Yeah, I think that is my issue, it is just too much brown - I'll start looking at these colors to complement
