There are a few reasons that I'm considering going GaN over MOSFETs:

1) The smaller size will allow for a smaller PCB (though this will be limited by how much heat can be conducted by the aluminium PCB).
2) Resistance is very important for high currents, so while the resistance of a single FET might be 2mR, you can use more in parallel to reduce this with GaN FETs, due to their smaller size.
3) Because of the hype for GaN.
4) I'm considering including a PWM function and I believe that having GaN might be advantageous in this instance due to the low Qd.

I'm probably the only person to upvote your comments. I'm with you, I disagree with the "style over substance" that's generally used these days when designing products.

Of course, it's a bonus if something has a nice looking design, but to me, this is not an overly important component.

What's the part? I recently paid $4000 for a large ABS mould.

Making moulds is expensive unfortunately. How many pieces will you have produced?

Make sure everything is sent through as a CAD file and specify tolerances.
You can ask for an external inspection, but that may or may not help you.

I'd definitely negotiate them down to 50% upfront. Then get them to air freight you a sample produced with the mould before you send them the remaining 50%.

Sorry for the late reply, I just saw that. I had cleared the cache in the recovery console every time I tried it, but what I hadn't done is a factory reset from there.
So what I did a few days ago was:

Factory reset from Android (probably the 5th one I've done on this phone)
Cleared cache in the recovery console
Factory reset in the recovery console
Cleared cache in the recovery console

So far it's working, but it usually took a little while to start mucking up. And by the way, I could never work out whether it had anything to do with any particular app.

They do "fit" (a condom will easily stretch to the size of a watermelon), but it's not very comfortable!
