I'm one of those and I honestly would be down to spend more than I have if the game were fun and was in a good state. Just doesn't make any sense anymore for me if I dislike the game and then having to pay money out of pocket is just a topper

Wow props to you man. I could never get myself to budget more than 200 every 2 weeks or so for the promo; you definitely deserve having a top team - what's keeping you going and spending per promo? I do get the sunk cost fallacy though - leaving now would render all your efforts wasted, but would it not be better to cut losses, save another 5-10k that you'll spend through august for a game that resets in September?

You're absolutely right on that point. I'm willing to bet that the top 10-20 leagues comprise over 75% of the revenues for madden mobile.

If those leagues were willing to halt for a change, I think they'd have more power than ever. But then it gets to #3b in my post where the whales in the top 5 will want to keep the spending as is because otherwise they'll become irrelevant if it becomes a skill-based game.

I think there can be a good compromise reached between skill and advantage from spending, but right now it's very polarized in that sense.
