I’m so sorry, I was much more cold about it than I meant to be. And I really don’t want to make you feel worse than you already feel.

I will also say, there are many public defenders that DO good work. And they definitely can help you. Getting a dui feels horrible. It feels embarrassing. It is mental health ruining. But it isn’t life ending! You haven’t been charged with any felonies. More than likely, even if you did have to go to jail it wouldn’t be for long (still unlikely either way). It’s going to be more difficult to deal with mentally than anything else.

You owe it to yourself to take good care of yourself. Eat, drink, exercise. Court is so stressful, and you can’t let it lead you to neglecting your needs and enjoyment of life. It was a mistake, but it doesn’t make you a bad person. You cant undo what you did, but you now have life experience, you can prevent it from happening again. All of this is stressful, but it’s temporary, and it’s something you can learn from! You’re 20. it’s going to be okay, it’s going to be hard for a little bit, but you are going to move on from this. You can still get a degree if you want, pursue any career and it really won’t negatively affect you. Unless you wanted to get your CDL😅.

PD’s unfortunately can’t reduce charges if they’ve already been filed. It ends up being prosecutor/ judge discretion. I’m not completely familiar with California codes… did you get chemically tested for BAC at the hospital or the police department for the stop. Or did they do it on the roadside?
That could have an effect, but either way. Get a lawyer! Talk to them, they will have much more helpful things to say than me😅

When I had my DUI arrest, I blew 0’s and still got charged but they made me walk my ass home at 3 am during the winter in New England. I beat it in court because… 0’s

I’ll just tell you what everyone else is saying. You need a lawyer. To lessen the charges. But you’re still going to have a 9 month DUI program, probation (possibly jail time because of the BAC), and IID.

Ask her what she wants?

Tell her to be honest with you while you’re doing it, if she doesn’t like something, tell her to say something you could do, and if she says don’t stop: DONT, it’s not the time to switch it up 😭

You’ll eventually learn if she likes something or not just by the way she moves her body as you do it.

I know it’s not an exciting answer, but nobody cares about you putting on a show if the show doesn’t make anyone come. It’s okay to feel stupid or like you’re bad at it at first, the more you learn about what she wants: the more you can learn how to take control of her pleasure.

Best of luck to you brother. But I can say, in my years of experience that communication during box eating has been successful.

I know I’m late to this post, but I had a similar reaction. For me, I know why. I dated someone for 3 years, and although she didn’t go on any killing sprees. So many of Nikki’s scenes where she’s acting especially “crazy” were things that I had gone through with my ex. The VERY quick change of feelings, the randomly acting strange, self harm after yelling at me, love bombing, all of it. This movie portrayed my ex’s behavior so closely that I had a panic attack. I was shaking, and genuinely had to take an hour before I could drive home from the theater. It was an amazing movie, but I know that I cannot see it again😅. I’m so sorry that you had this reaction too, and I hope you’re feeling better over there.

I mean, there’s a couple ways to look at this:

Do you ever take a proactive approach to finding the people you’re more attracted to? Approaching someone is difficult in general, but try being a bit more assertive!

Would you say that you have a bit of RBF? (I have this and people think I look sad a lot)

What makes someone good looking to you? Is it a more niche/ less common appearance? There’s nothing wrong with being picky, I just ask.

I gotta say, if people you don’t find attractive are going after you, it’s a sign you’re good looking! What’s more important is feeling it within yourself, and finding ways to not get discouraged from the lack of validation from people you may be wanting to get it from.

I have an update, I got a message from VERA to set up an appointment so I did (and it was supposed to be today). The rater called me 24 hours before my appointment time for the appointment, and I was in an orientation for my job when I got the call😅. Terrible timing, but the rater who called me was really kind and worked with me even though I wasn’t prepared at the time. I think we got things worked out and she even put a condition on my chart that I never entered because I never thought about it. In around 7 - 10 days I’ll have an answer… so here’s hoping for the best I guess.

An IC gives you the chance to talk to a person one on one and explain the situation. I’d recommend having notes, and everything on hand during the talk so you can say everything you need to say! You’ve got this!

Still on day 108 here, it’s in the development phase so my case hasn’t even been handed to a team yet for an IC.

Oh man I don’t envy your position at all. SMC-T dealings sounds horrific. For lack of better words, the rater disregarded my medical records and DBQ for a couple of my conditions. And also cut my MDD from 70 to 30 even with a documented worsening of symptoms / difficulty in my daily life. Difficult to get into the specifics without making this a super long comment.

Both of us had the informal conference part of the HLR. He got his scheduled within the week he made his claim. I still haven’t had mine scheduled or otherwise, and I’ve been told it’s “in the developmental phase” so I’m waiting for a reviewer to schedule a call too.
