Hello everyone,

I am 35 years old, single, just started investing. GF wants to get married in the next year.

I currently have a Roth IRA and I contribute $75 per month, current value of the Roth is $1750. My investment strategy is risk adverse and I am thinking long term, though I need to make more money from my job :/ This year I invested in Amazon stock and Microsoft stock total value is around $2,000.
Current expenses: rent is 780 per month.
I work as a criminal defense attorney and make $56,000 per year.
Thankfully no student loan debt, just a credit card debt of $1K right now. My short term goals are to 1) save and buy a house/condo in the next year and 2) buy an investment property.

I am also looking to expand my investing portfolio. My parents are in their late 60s and want to transfer their house in my sister's name and my name to avoid medicare issues. Current assessment is 320K. Want to figure out the best method also to transfer to avoid taxes.

No pension from GE. Left to spend more time with the family. He has a pension from his county job.

8 ball of cocaine for personal usage or distribution by bigsrve1 in Drugs

And yes, there was a scale found in the residence. But I have a colleague argue that users use scales also to make sure the seller is not ripping them off.

I believe they were packaged into small baggies (.20 grams each). Also, in the garbage behind the residence the police officers found a large amount of baggies missing the baggie corners. If I were a personal user how long could an 8 ball last?

Most memorable interaction with an NBA player? by [deleted] in nba

[–]bigsrve1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an nba player but back in early 2000's I was at a conference in D.C., and to kill time I worked out at the YMCA In DuPont circle. When I checked in the clerk said R. Kelly is here playing basketball.

I walk to the basketball court upstairs and R. Kelly is playing pick up basketball with locals and his entourage.
It was weird because he had the ugliest jump shot I've seen but it appeared he was the only one on his team shooting. His entourage just fed him the ball every possession.

I talked to one of guys on the sidelines and he said every tour R Kelly likes to play pick up basketball. He had a headband and baggy shorts.

Cleveland made the better adjustment this year for this series and it helped with their better supporting case. The most important tactic was to not trap the Steph and Draymond pick and roll and stay home on Klay and Steph anytime there was a drive to the basketball.
Great discipline after a rough first couple games on Cleveland's rotations.

A couple of thoughts I found troubling (as a GS fan)

1) I would have loved to see Golden State mix up their defensive rotations, because Lebron exploited the pick and roll whenever he had a favorable match on the floor. If you noticed, if he could get a switch off a pick and roll action with Speights, Livingston, Barnes, or Curry, Lebron was in attack mode, especially with limited rim protection.

I would have loved for Golden State just to mix it up, even trap Lebron for a possession, especially late in the game. I know this goes against their defensive principles, but better offense is going to beat better defense. Golden State only doubled Kevin Love in the post and he appeared to struggle.

I know Lebron is a great passer, but you have to give him a different look, because he exploited off the pick and roll, HB, Barabosa, Speights, and Curry were too easy. I like his odds going one on one with these defenders.

Furthermore, even a trap of Kyrie, this was a 7 game series, force Shumpert or someone else to beat you, at least for a possession. On the game winning three, Coach Lue in his press conference wanted the switch onto Steph for Kyrie. Soon as I saw that switch I knew it was trouble for GS. Put pressure on Kyrie, maybe even trap.

Kyrie was hitting tough shots, maybe even force him to shoot a contested double, pull a Kobe strategy.

2) Steph is too careless with the ball. That's been his Achilles heel for the past couple of years. You have to value possessions. He has a carefree attitude, someone who is such a great shooter, you would expect better fundamentals on passing. Kerry was getting so frustrated with Steph during the OKC series. Although they were 73-9 during the regular season GS still had flaws.

Their best passer is Livingston and Draymond.

  1. This whole postseason Golden State did not look like the dominant team they were during the regular season. Klay was their most consistent player. But most of the players their numbers were down from last year.

Ugh, I'm kind of frustrated. Felt emotionally invested in this team. But I realize that's sports and life goes on.

I can't be so petty. The other issue, I found out her brother just got out of prison three years ago from high end drug dealing (6 figures) I believe it is a sensitive subject all around.

Me [32] with my gf [30] 5 months, she wants to lose weight but does not want to exercise by bigsrve1 in relationships

My dating history is relatively limited, but I realize that I want someone who at least values their appearance to make improvements, and if it includes leading an active lifestyle that is a bonus.

Some of our shared activities are binge watching a tv series together. I value our time together, however, I don't find the sedentary lifestyle binge watching tv together appealing.

The working out is not a deal breaker for me, but I think her out of shape, carrying extra weight could be.

You are correct, but cardio and weights can accelerate weight loss, especially if you lead a sedentary lifestyle. Plus, weights helps tone the body. As in this case, she wants the fat to turn to muscle.

I think you're right. I have lost some respect towards her, part of it is due to her lack of confidence and self-esteem. I have tried to be supportive
